Hi

My mom (who is an essential worker) was confirmed to have been infected by COVID-19. She was advised/told to recover at home as it is a mild case. My mom was 60 this year and widowed, she lives by herself and with nobody to take care of her though neighbors agreed to bring her food. I live just across the border, which is closed (obviously).

So frustrating! I know she will be OK (I hope). I know not to be anywhere near her physically. But I feel so powerless knowing I cannot even do her shopping. I cannot even walk her dog. I can do nothing and it feels so bad.

How can I even see her? I can't wait for her to get better and I will never take her for granted again.

Prayers, please.

If she has video call available on her phone or can use Skype then use that to communicate with her as at least you can see her then, everyone's in the same boat with relatives that have it some worse of than others who's nearest and dearest are hospitalized with it so your not alone in this situation

I am sorry to hear that your mom is infected :(. Our doctors and nurses deserve all the love they can get. And so do you! I'd be worried sick if it were me! Blank Canvas is right though... skype, discord, telegram, what'sapp, whatever you got, use that, and then give her a big hug when all this S*** is over!

Thanks everyone. Yes, we have talked online. My mom really tends to downplay it whenever she's feeling bad, she always says she's fine even when she definitely isn't, so I honestly have no idea how she's even doing. She said she was fine and not in any pain when she had a sewing machine needle stuck all the way through her finger, just as a little example.

I guess she thinks she has to be tough so the people around her don't get worried.

I have calmed down a little though. All I can do is hope and wait. Other people whose relatives have much more severe cases are everywhere, so I should stop feeling this way, right? Instead I'll help my neighbors like my moms neighbors are helping her. Pay it forward.

Sorry to hear about your mum, hope she'll get better soon. Thanks God we have internet nowadays. Hopefully the situation will globally de-escalate so we could visit our family members soon!
