Well I am a 20 year old female who has recently graduated from school/college. I guess since it is two am i have started on day six of my post op. And thus far it has been painful but no where near as bad as I thought it would be. My tonsils were about the size of a plum. a medium size plum. I had strep eight times this year alone and I also had sleep apnea. needless to say the tonsils really had to go so i scheduled my surgery for sept. 27th 2010 and asked off for two weeks of work here is a run down on my experience.
day one: Nothing could touch me i feel no pain. Oh and i hit on my doctor...
day two: A little sore but nothing i couldnt handle pain seemed at its highest when i slept for over two hours at a time.
day three: Hello scabs! They look gross and eating just became a tad more painful, still i manage to eat my KFC mashed potatos and an egg! Realized im not doing so hot where the water is conserned so i down two HUGE cups which in turn gives me the hic ups. Those are NOT FUN after this dang surgery
day four: OH DEAR GOD IT HURTS... Okay honestly its not THAT bad but after three days of having no pain and then THIS?! yeah just prepare yourself for some sore throatage I dont eat much that day Again morning time is the worst so i start setting my alarm for every two hours to take a tsp of my pain meds and drink some water. This seemed to work out because one day five...
Day five: Pain is a whole lot less in the morning still if i skip even ONE LITTLE TSP of meds the pain becomes intense. Scab is noticeably loosened up and I start to gargle a mild salt and water mixture. THIS HURTS. I do it every two hours RIGHT BEFORE i take my pain meds then wait thirty minutes then eat a small snack this seems to help i have gone from PAIN OF DOOM to really sore.
I will update this once i feel i am able to eat a damn burger cause honestly that is ALL i want right now So hopefully you all hear from me in a week cause im not sure i can survive this craving any longer than that. Also I would love to know does the pain get worse when the scabs go away or is it all about the same?
