I say non-sexually transmitted STD because, well, frankly I'm a mid-twenties virgin with absolutely no sexual experiences, not even a kiss on the lips. However, I know some STDs can be transmitted non-sexually. So.

They started with itching brown/gray patches on the crease between my inner thigh and groin, and have since been spreading. These mystery sores are not like pimples. They are flat, itchy discs. The sores are very thin and if minorly scratched the top tears easily. I stopped that right away. The problem is the spreading. There are new sores creeping out from the crease of my thigh down my thigh, and these are flat yet gently raised, slightly flaky/chalky/scaly with pink undertones. The old areas are colored gray/brown, and I think they could be healing but I'm not sure.

It could have been an after effect of experimental shaving. However, I stopped shaving after these began to appear. I would think stopping shaving would help if that was the problem, but it's been almost two months now.

I did go to the doctor and she dismissed it as clothing sores, which is odd because I don't see any particular changes in my dress habits.

It could be my increasing sensitivity to them but I think they are getting worse and starting to periodically sting. The doctor (actually a PA) said to keep the area dry and clean, which I have been doing, but did not recommend any creams. I'm quite ready to go see the gynecologist, but would like to do a bit of research as well.

Any insights?

This sounds like a light form of malaria aka heat rash. Find some nice diaper rash/ heat rash ointment and avoid letting the infected area get too hot.
