Hi, I'm 20 this year and I have been feeling very nauseous a few days before my period and it becomes worst as I'm havin my period and usually lasts for about 2 to 3 days more. However, this month it suddenly became worst. I've been feeling nauseous for about a week after my period and also have been feeling light headed and have been having constant headache and occasionally have diarrhea. I just went to see a doctor but she could not identify the cause. Is this a normal thing or do I have to be worried about it?

Hi there!  I'm 27, and before I began dealing with endometriosis a few years back, I remember my menstrual cycles.  They were very irregular until I began to take the pill. I experienced nausea at various times during my cycles, along with major headaches, which I still have and diarrhea as well.  I had a very good gynecologist who once told me that the headaches are the cause of estrogen levels dropping.  Diarrhea is also affected by hormone levels changing, evidently.  He said that the same brain "chemicals" that tell your body to start your cycle can upset your balance and cause diarrhea.  My doctor recommended that I take Motrin two to three times daily starting a few days before my cycle and ending a few days after.  This way, it acts kind of like a preventive for the symptoms.  I don't know that there's a specific ailment or a name to go with what we've experienced, but I can tell you that it has to be due to hormones.  I hope you can cope with the problem.  One way or another, women always seem to be suffering through something!

These symptoms are experienced by many. It gets exaggerated when you are stressed, eat junk food and spicy foods. Regular exercise like brisk walking and healthy foods help to keep these symptoms at bay
