There is a counselor there, talk to him/her. This could be a severe case of homesick or something much worse could be happening. Please don't hurt yourself. Is there a college closer to home that you could transfer to?
Many young people can't wait until they can get "out on their own" it's an exciting time in a young person's life and it's a rite of passage. They just hit the ground running. When reality sets in, they feel alone and scared until they meet people and start to settle into college life. College life should be a blast for you and you should really embrace this time, but if you have some issues that you just can't iron out by yourself, you should really talk to someone. Keep in touch with your family and write letters or emails often, make sure you get photo's of what's going on at home and send some back. If mom sends you a "care package" make sure she puts some of your treasures in the box, like a favorite photo or a blanket or a favorite CD you may have left behind. She can include a favorite food that you like, maybe a jar of penut butter or a can of your favorite soup. This may sound stupid, but the familiar things we love, tho simple in nature, can help our transition a little easier.
It's not a bad thing to want to be someplace else. And it's ok to leave one college for another. It's even ok to take a break from college. You can take a semester or two to put yourself back together, then try again, maybe some where closer to home. You can still live on campus as that will keep that sense of freedom for you, but you eill still be a short ride from home if you need it.

He had started college after high school and he just wasn't ready to do that. He flunked out the first year. He sure was ready several years later after he finished the apprenticeship. He got his EE with a 4.0 and went to work for NASA in Florida.
So don't feel bad if you're not ready yet.
