Good morning.

I had intercourse for the first time on Valentine's day with my boyfriend, but we had been engaging in oral and digital sex for three months before progressing to intercourse. When I visited my GYN to follow up on another issue, she told me that I may notice some new things with regard to my body now that my parter and I have started having sex. She mentioned the possibility of my vaginal discharge looking different or some mild irritation of various areas, but didn't mention anything else.My question is, what other things should I be looking out for?

I tend to be kind of a worry wart, so if I notice something out of the ordinary, I go into panic mode, and I don't want that to be the case as far as my sexual health is concerned. My boyfriend and I use condoms as a form of birth control, and lubricant during intercourse. We're both healthy, in a monogamous relationship, and can effectively communicate with each other. That being said, this is a totally new experience for me, and I don't know what is considered normal versus when to see a doctor.Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Just continue to get regular check ups and always make sure to use condoms. You will be just fine. Your hips may spread and your boons may grow so look out for those things

First, I want to tell you that being monogamous is the best sex. Oral sex is wonderful, but if you aren't having orgasms without oral or digital sex... your missing out! Having said that... digital sex (I assume you mean toys) can desensitize the female genitals and make it difficult to achieve long, multiple, earthshattering orgasms... some women end up no being able to have orgasms at all, until they discontinue the vibrator. I strongly advise minimal use of vibrating toys (which also if not kept sanitary, Will cause a bacterial infection, that you will give to your man, and then he will give it back to you, etc. It normal for girls/women to have discharge for a few days or months before menses ever starts. After that, discharge can come before menstrual cycle and after. It also is common in between. (it can be creamy, watery, and even mucus like) When you should worry... is if the discharge has a fishy odor or isn't clear, white, or mild yellow... any discharge that smells bad or is off in color, is an issue. Could just be bacterial infection? Yeast infections are common as well. Both require meds to correct. If the discharge causes pain, itching, or swelling, or just never goes away. See a doc. Even monogamous sex has a chance of bacterial infection. Make sure your man cleans his genital area before sex, especially if he's been sweating, etc. But Always see a doctor if you need to, but please know that discharge is part of our female curse and mostly is normal. I come from a family of all girls and have 3 teenage daughters myself.
