I had the procedure in January and haven't had my period yet. I still experience PMS, it seems worse, but I can't really complain. My periods were heavy and now I haven't had one so I guess it worked for me. My doctor said everyone is different. some have no periods, some lighter ones...I am 44 and do not miss the heavy bleeding. Not sure if my experience/comments helped, but it's interesting to hear how this procedure affects people.

I had an ablation done 6 months ago. I had light bleeding for almost 6 weeks after the procedure, but I have had no periods since. There are a few different types of Ablation methods and my doctor specialized in one that would remove your period for up to 10 years (by then I should be in menopause). Because your doctor didn't remove any organs you will still ovulate, which is what causes your symptoms (cramping, migraines, breaking out, irritability, etc.). My doctor recommended the Lupron or Depo shot to distinguish ovulation and also be sure you don't get pregnant. HTH
