I have a strange deal going on. I'm a fairly active 53 year old male. Under a lot of stree at home and work (going thru a divorce, manage 12 house units as a landlord, and put in 40 hours a week as a computer tech.) Started literally over night in bed, fine the night before, awoke to having a numb right leg, as in REAL numb, but still totally functional. Went on for 4 days until my sis insisted I go to ER, where I got the CAT scan and a lot of strange eyebrow raising. Nurse used her ball point pen to locate extreme total numbness spots while gently rubbing my feet. Temperature on right foot was way colder than my left. Nothing showed up. I had just eaten a really large meal and I wasn't a diabetic. Doc said I'm not going back to work and probably won't be for a while (!). Next day, MRI. Showed I had great spine bones and nothing could be found. Went to a neurologist, he sent me to his monster MRI machine with High RES injection and a 3 hour stay in the forward torpedo tube. (Those headphones really suck.) Upon looking closer, he thought he was seeing some inflammation along the spinal cord. Put me on Prednozone. Later in the week, the numbness spread to other leg, and further up the body. More tests including a spinal tap. This was over months, and along the way, I've gotten much weaker, short term memory loss, a bit of paralysis, loss of motion, sometimes dizzy, sleep is messed up. Tried going back to work, and my co-workers thought I had gotten extremely lazy / slow. This has been most frustrating. Also, my bowels have felt way "weird", cannot feel them and I think they "forget" what they're supposed to be doing. This has been 6 months now! Constipated all the time, which is strange to me as I've never had that problem before ever. I drop things a lot. Lose my keys all the time. Takes me twice as long to make it to appointments anywhere. right hand is always colder than the left. Can't dance worth a hoot. (oh yeah, guess I had that problem before this). Dream about the ER nurse a lot.
