I can't believe everyone is having the same issue I am having! I was prescribed synthroid (generic) 2 years ago - and I have been gaining weight likt crazy - especially since the dose has been increased! Plus I am tired all the time - what the heck are we supposed to do?? My last visit to the doctor in March - she commented about my weight - this is after all the snow we have in the Northeast - and shoveling almost daily - and walking around instead of driving - and the weight is WORSE than ever - and I told her what I have been doing - my diet consists mostly of veggies, chicken and some fish - I just don't know what to do - I have my next appointment in July - am thinking of telling her I am going off these pills.....

In 2013 October, I switched to armour and gained 10pounds.
In March of 2014 I switched back to synthroid but upped to 100mcg.
My t3 was tested and was at 2.2 but I decided not to take cytomel, even though doc said I could.
In July of 2014 I stopped running and upped my calories and upped my carbs. By the end of 2014 I was down to 128lbs. Today I was 122lbs.
I say all that meaning: I think if you have thyroid issues and stress your body out any way - it will hold the weight. I also let go of a stressful job and the weight came off. I was dieting and running - this stressed my body out. I eat whatever I want now but I eat naturally less because I never binge anymore. I have no desire to. Try upping your carbs and less or no exercise. Nothing is wrong with synthroid. It's the mind body connection. I can't tell you the agony and depression I suffered before it finally lifted. You just have to find the right dosage and the right "groove". My doc tests my blood every 2 months for the past 3 years. Say what you will, I watch my THyroid hormones like a hawk.
