Hi, My three-year-old daughter has thrush. It is a candida or yeast infection. What works best to get rid of it?

Thrush is an overgrowth of yeast in the mouth. On the inside of the cheeks white patches. The white patches can be seen. It occurs on the tongue and on the gums. Infants are first exposed to yeast on birth, since they pass through the birth canal, and yeast is common inhabitant of vagina and skin. Antibiotic therapy can induce yeast growing. Oral infection by yeast can be seen only in infants, because later body immune system develops or by immune deficiency patients. If yeast doesn’t spread from the mouth, the infection is mild. Thrush is treated with nystatin, which is being putted in child’s mouth with a dropper, because it destroys fungus by direct contact. Yeast can develop on mother’s nipples, so you could treat them too (nystatin cream). Plastic nipples for aby bottles should be boiled for a few minutes, to prevent yeast development.
