Hello! Last week, my 4yo son was diagnosed with oral thrush. I took him to a doc after noticing some white stuff on his tongue that I couldn’t scrub off. I got so scared, so I took him to a doc and he prescribed some antifungal medications. I am wondering where could he get it from? I know about vaginal trush and being spread by sexual encounter, but what about children. Could he have gotten it in the kindergarten?

Hi! It is quite possible that your son caught the thrush in the child day care. If your son has weaker immune system, he could have developed thrush by sharing toys with a child who had the infection. A child with thrush spreads the thrush fungus onto anything s/he puts in his or her mouth. Another child may then get thrush by putting an infected object into his or her mouth
