Sounds like it may be sciatica, the sciatic nerve gets pinched then it causes pain along the nerve path. It often causes pain or numbness down the leg. See a doctor, you need to figure out where the pressure point is.. I've been on pain management & disability for this for 7-8 years, drs can't locate a direct origin of pain, I know this is an older post, hopefully you'll find help or maybe you already have...

It is called Piriformis Syndrome. I have found not sitting for long periods, with pressure on thighs helpfull. Stretching all of your thigh muscles. Add a pinch of Epsom salts to your beverages, or soak in a tub with Epsom salts. Good Luck!

I've seen five doctors, its a bad hip joint and its destabilization is pulling on the muscles and causing what could be described as piriformis syndrome. Getting hip replacement is about the only alternative as it doesn't get better on its own,"that is if its the hip", a simple 2 shot xray will confirm it.

If your still having the leg pain. You should try sleeping with a pillow in-between your legs. I've been sleeping like this for a while now and it helps. Good luck

Also sounds like Sciatica to me. The Sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in the body. As such it is also very susceptable to pain and damage. Damage to the back can cause this. Sciatica can cause severe pain, numbness, and other unpleasent effects to occur in or near the affected area. Put a good cold compress on it, especially after walking and putting weight down. Also look into what is called the BFST (blood flow stimulation therapy). The resulting blood flow brings oxygen and nutrient rich blood to your back and helps accelerate the healing process, relieving the pain caused by sciatica faster. I use it for my lower back pain and it helps a lot.

You can also experience hamstring and thigh pain if you injure your foot or knee and are walking differently on it. Even a new pair of shoes could cause it.

You need to do hamstring stretches, it worked for me so I keep doing them.

It is painful to sit down and also first thing in the morning. I struggle to walk sometimes too. I am waiting for an ultra sound scan and steroid injection. I hope I get an appointment sometime soon.!

My pain rarely if ever goes below the knee but thank heaven for that! Dealing with it in the back of the thigh is enough! I have had numerous RMI's, my hip joints are in great shape they say...that's a relief. But cortisone shots & other exercise routines have done nothing for this pain in my legs. Like you tho', when it hits, I nearly fall to the floor & I will at times yelp out loud which is embarrassing when out somewhere. I would dearly love someone to suggest some kind of pain med that actually works other than heavy duty addictive drugs like oxycodone!
