The thigh pain in the back below buttocks and knee is normally associated with the back problem, may be a slightly to largely worn out lower back discs. This needs exercise for at least 15 to 20 days such as raising your leg 30-60 degrees 20 times while lying on your back, then do 0 to 90 degrees 15 times, later press your thigh (with folded leg) against the chest while lying down 15 times; while lying sideways, lift your leg up 15 times. You may also need exercises for your back. Yoga will definitely help alleviate back and lower thigh pain.

I experience no pain while standing or walking, but it hurts to sit (I now work standing up at my computer) and driving or sitting in a car is painful.
I had an MRI of my lower back and MRI of my leg (as well as x-rays) and all were normal. I saw a chiropracter a few times but it didn't seem to do anything. The experts I've seen are confused--they say some of my symptoms are consistent with a pulled hamstring, but not all of them, and some are consistent with a pinched nerve. But none of it seems to all line up.
I was on an anti-inflammatory for a week or so but it didn't seem to help. I also tried physical therapy but I've found that any sort of back or leg stretches result in it hurting worse later that night.
I am scheduled to see a neurologist in a month.
