I'm 36 and just started running and am really enjoying it. I run about 2-3 miles per day at least five days a week. I have two questions regarding pain I am having in my left leg after running. The first is in my knee. I had surgery about 23 years ago on this knee and for the most part it had been okay. Since I started running, however, it aches all the time. I've been told I have a Baker's cyst on the back, but can this really be causing this much discomfort? Because it even hurts in the front of my knee.
Secondly, I have had one vein in the middle of my left calf that has about a dime size spot that sticks out (looks sort of like a varicose vein, but with no discoloration). It's never been a problem other than just being ugly. However, since I've started running it is very sore and hurts when I push on it. Should I be concerned about this?
Thanks.

Thanks.I had a very similar problem. My personal trainer suggested that I go to the doctor. However, he also said I should try out exercise balls first. That seemed to solve everything! It might have been my running shoes too, because I have long since replaces those older ones.
