I chocked tonight on a piece of chicken. I couldn't cough or breathe in or out.
My vision was starting to narrow and it was getting black round the outside.
I was on my own and knew I literally had seconds to do something, I had to give myself the heimlick manoeuvre dropping my body onto the kitchen work top as hard as I could 4 or 5 times until I vomited.
It was probably a few minutes before I managed to take a full breath but I was panting desperate for air for ages afterwards. A couple of hours on and the pain in my throat is equal to when I had tonsillitis. The whole front of my neck, mouth, tongue, jaw ears are all so sore, not to mention my stomach and ribs and the banging headache.
I'm not sure if I should go to the hospital, I'm a bit scared of going to sleep in case my throat continues to swell.

I choked on a Chinese noodle 2 weeks ago. Actually I swallowed it and it felt like it stuck in my throat. I never felt it go down and I never coughed it up. I’m having major issues still!! I can’t eat solid food without chest pain and pain in my throat in that one area where the thing got lodged. Any ideas what could be going on?

That must have been horrifying! How long before you were better? I was a guest at a dinner party tonight and got a piece of steak stuck in my throat. I thought I could wash it down with water but the water just sat on top of the steak and I felt like I was drowning. I stood up motioning and someone tried the heimlic. The water came out but the steak just lodged deeper. It finally moved enough for me to get a breath but it was so painful until it went down, I had mucus and everything coming up after, it was crazy. I was afraid to throw it up because I was worried it would get stuck again. Two small kids were watching. Waiting for the throat pain, headache, and overall discomfort to pass. I can’t imagine if I was alone.

I choked on a mango, and 4 hours later my throat lining feels irritated, and like it's burning. What should I do?

I choked on some soft cake. It did not stop my breathing and I could talk. I can drink and eat but have pain in my upper back. Can this be connected? I keep taking deep breaths.

I got choked on a piece of dove chocolate and stand a hot cup of milk and coffee, would that dissolve the chocolate or is there a piece still stuck in my throat?
