Hi all,
At the end of June 2010 I switched jobs and on my leaving party i got really drunk and smoked alot (inhaled cuban cigar and marlboro lights). After the hangover, I got this cough that I couldnt shift - It felt like I had mucus on my chest and natural reaction was to cough it out but its always there.
I took the cough with me overseas on a month trip and it has remained ever since. It did disappear for a week in July. When i returned from my trip a month later i got the flu for two weeks and the cough and chest/throat feeling was back. It then disappeared for 2 days and then back solidly every day.
It feels like a choking squeezing sensation with ball in throat feeling sometimes. In the morning when I wake up usually I am ok and cough up mucus but towards afternoon/evening it gets worse.
I went to the doctors and they gave me blood and spit tests which were all normal. Still the cough and feeling like something on my chest remains.
They then gave me PPI to stop stomach acid, i've been taking them for 2 weeks but no change in my symptoms.
Its starting to freak me out.

about a few hundred people a year swallow toothpicks from martinis and if you got drunk you could swallow anything without knowing it. It sounds like you have something lodged in you chest or throat. x-rays may show something. sometimes a doctor has to do an endoscopy and look in your throat and lungs and stomach with a flexible tube with light n camera. I bet you swallowed something
