The pain in the collar bone and in the rib cage is common. I go running a lot and it happens on occasion. Someimes really frequent, its nothing to worry about its just air pockets getting in the wron areas. If you get the pains again during excercise stop what your doing and massage the area and move your shoulder around while taking controled breaths. It will help.

Ok so, every once in a while I have this weird pain on my left side right under my ribs. It starts as a pain then turns in to had to breathe and hurts to breathe, I feel like I need to take deep breaths but it hurts to much. This happens a lot and I wont be doing anything. And everytime I tell my mom about it, she just thinks I'm being paranoid. What could this mean? Should I have it checked out?

I've been experiencing a mild pain that's only on the right side of my torso, kind of behind my ribs. This tension sometimes in my right shoulder and breast plate seems to be connected, leading me to believe that it is muscular. After reading about half of this forum, I've narrowed it down to either a "stitch" or misplaced air pockets (or both).

After holding a deep in-breath (ignoring the pain) a few times, it the pain has now subsided but some of the muscles in the area are still a little sore. If this is air bubbles causing temporary and small lung collapses, where is the air coming from: a punctured lung??

I feel the same,  last night I stayed up 'til about four in the morning.. Then I woke up around 10 in the morning.. I finished watching my scary movie on Netflix that I hadn't finished yesterday. Something scared me of course, and I started getting these weird pains in my chest. Its now 12 in the morning.. I still feel the same, but theres something really weird about it.
It only hurts  when I takes deep breathes or whenever I think about it. I tried vomitting, but I couldnt. I'm only 13, is this normal?

hi im hyprocondriac too

i started getting these sharp pains on my left side from below my ribs to left hip and they would be unberible and i couldnt stand up with them or sit down id be crouched over in pain and the only way that i would get rid of it is when i lay down for awhile. Lately i started getting pains below my boobs on my right side of the ribs mainly and sometimes on the left and i felt like i couldnt get enough air into my lungs and id have to take a deep breath in, even though i couldnt because the pain would be sharp when i did this im only 17.. my doctor said the pains i get on my left side are more then likely related to constipation as i get constipated a lot and i dont drink enough water and eat the right foods,

I have no idea what causes this but I get it from time to time too! I don't think it's anything serious since I've gotten it since I was little and I'm now 30 and still here to talk about it. I actually just had this a couple if minutes ago and laid in my stomach with my arms up, took a couple of deep breaths (which didn't hurt in this position) .... And holy c**p!..., all better :) good luck!!

I get this same thing. All of the symptoms people have mentioned are there:

Sharp pain in right-hand lower rib cage area.

Hurts to breathe in

Can't sleep properly due to pain

Similar pain in collar bone but not as intense

Bubbling feeling when breathing

I have a Doctors appointment this afternoon but actually I felt a click in the shower this morning and I have been feeling much better since. I also have other symptoms which may be untrelated but include sweating, shortness of breath, dizziness, nausea.

I actually have issues with bowel movements. They are few and far between and are also so hard that it hurts to poop. Feels like passing a big stone. I actually though that the pain could be an obstruction in my colon so I drank loads of Epsom Salts and had a really good sh*t this morning. It was almost a religious experience.

I'll report back what the doc says but to be honest, the doctors here are truly terrible. I hope I don't suffer from anything serious. My girlfriend is from the Philippines which isn't third world but isn't really first world either. In comparison, their health care is excellent. It makes me ashamed to be British.

You guys keep saying you have to breathe in until something clicks or snaps . . . Go to a chiropractor and they will put the rib back into place!

My doc sent me to A8E as an emergency in case it was coleocystitis. I was poked and prodded by three different doctors. Typically, the pain had subsided by the time I got there. I wasn't scanned or x-rayed. After 4 hours they discharged me.

The pain came back and was worse that same evening and has been the same ever since with some occassional but random relief. I went back to who said it was probably muscular but this didn't fit with the sickness and runny bum so she is sending me for a scan (in 4 to 6 weeks). It could be infected gall bladder or pleurisy.

I still feel sick and barely sleep as the pain is much worse at night. I can sleep for as long as 400mg of ibuprofen lasts which seems to be anywhere between 2 and 4 hours. 4 weeks of this will be difficult. After 6 weeks I'll be a wreck.
