Kay,

Did you ever figure out what it was? Or did it just go away on its own?

I had this same problem. Even had an echocardiogram 24 hour monitor, etc. turned out to be a pinched nerve in my upper thoracic region.

I suspect that some of these posters--especially the younger ones--may have a benign condition called "precordial catch syndrome." I began experiencing it late in grade school and became convinced that I was dying of some heart abnormality XD By 20 I had outgrown it, but only within the past few years did I stumble across the name of it. Wikipedia has more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precordial_catch_syndrome

I am grateful that I came across this thread. I have experienced the same issue, but I only have maybe 3 or 4 "aches" every 4 - 6 months. I will feel a dull pain under my ribs and each time I take a breath it gets stronger, until I take a deep breath and it goes away after a sharp pain. I notice it is more likely to happen during periods of stress or if I have a lot on my mind. People tend to take shorter breaths with tension, which might be creating the aches, cramps, or inflammation (whatever it may be) I have had tests done in the past, which found no blood clots, heart defects, or any abnormalities in the lung area. My advice for anyone would be to visit a doctor, or start a journal of ache characteristics/frequency/presenting stress levels. If there are no correlations made or they get worse/more frequent, skip the self diagnoses and visit a professional. It could save your life

That sounds like gallbladder attacks...I always had residual tenderness after those like a little sore muscle or bruise.

I can tell you that you do not have influenza because you do not have the symtoms of influenza. But you might want to go to the chiropractor and get it checked out it just might be the cure for it.

Im 16, and i had the same problem about 2 weeks ago, One night i was about to go to sleep i rolled over and i heard a pop in my chest and felt it, i sat up and took deep breaths and i exhaled, theere was a sharp pain under the entire front of my rib cage, so i decided it was time to wake my parents and to go to the hospital. The doctor did an EKG my heart looked healthy, but yet my heart rate was 180/70 so they decided that it was my pottasium level it was 2.8 so after they gave me a bag of pottasium, through an IV the pain went away. but then i did some research online and i came across an article that said the pain might have been a muscle contaction in my hear that caused it.

This pain under your right rib cage can be an issue of concern as it can indicate that it is not a mere bubble but something more serious. As you already have a history of bladder infections,it indicates that you do not drink sufficient water and the kidney infections could also because of this same reason. The other complex reasons could be that you either have appendicitis or gallstones. Also get your liver checked because all this can have a reverse effect on your liver too.

I have this same problem, literally right now too... I first had it about four years ago and my doctor said it was 'just growing pains' but I know that's bs. It was first on my left side but right now its on my right, and I can not seem to put enough pressure on it

Found a way to fix it! It bothered me all night until I decided to go to the bathroom and try to make myself throw up. Now I know it sounds weird, I didn't really throw up, but it got ALL of that gas outta there! It doesn't hurt anymore!!

It only happens every once and a while, but I can usually feel it a few minutes before it does. All of a sudden, there's the bubble effect right below my right rib cage, and it hurts to breath, so I had to take quick, short breaths. It usually only happens when I'm sitting or lying down. As soon as I stand, it (whatever is causing this) seems to pop back into place. It hurts a lot, and I've found myself sitting straighter to try to prevent this. I asked my mom to take me to the doctor, but we didn't have insurance at that time and we still don't. It's beginning to be less often, but it's still a problem. If anyone knows anything let me know please?
