Just wanted to correct this post of mine - it's pregosterone cream that I bought online and which has helped me, not estrogen cream. Kris.

Yeah thats what I bought also and which has helped. I tried posting a comment on the site telling them how much their cream had helped me but I didnt have the correct term for it then (Vaginal atrophy I think) and so used the words, "tight vagina" and they wouldnt put the post up.

I am somewhat in a similar situation, but with more hope. No sex for quite a few years, more for religious reasons, but I do date men who have the same religious beliefs. I have heard about this and believe it is my issue. When I get my gyno exam - it is painful. I think the most important thing to do is research, find forums to talk about it and understand what are the options. I believe attitude is everything. Men talk about impotence and poor erections and BOOM - Viagra is advertised on TV. Men know that there are things that can be done for their total health to improve their erections and sexual health. The more we ask, speak, share - the more effort will go into research, fact sharing, and hope for best solutions.

I'm going to stand by estrogen cream. All of my doctors feel it's safe and it definitely works. I believe I started with 1-2 weeks of using it nightly. Then I reduced it to 3 times a week and I use the smallest amount indicated on the insertion tube. I don't have any side effects!!! I do use additional lubricant for intercourse and we start a little slower, probably because I have a slightly prolapsed uterus (common at my age). Sex does NOT hurt and while it's not the same as when we were younger, it's still great!

This is a thinning of the vaginal tissue which exposes nerves and makes it "raw". These ladies all have the same symptoms and it is not a hernia!

I understand how u feel- my sex life was ruined after having a hysterectomy in my 30's, intercourse was very painful- there was a lack of lubrication- I am sure this was one of the reasons for my divorce.

ok ladies I'm 28 years old and have all the same symptoms, its been driving me nuts for almost 3yrs..! I have seen my gynaecologist 3 times the last being today ! I was told to try all sorts by my GP had various tests, bloods, scans you name it I had done, on my last appointment with the gyno she asked me to use dialtors which didn't work ! I have been given the result after 3 yrs and had to share, 28 i hear you all crying well the reason I'm sharing is because the one thing that is confusing is that this only usaly happens to women who have just bee.t Through the menopause.! I have to have a little op to open my vagina as my skin has tightened near the entrance, I'm sorry I was so happy I forgot to write down the name of the procedure ! As I'm sure u will all understand, the pain is like nothing else, the bleeding, the tenderness and swelling for days after any type of intercourse ! I cant believe really that its something so simple, so hopefully with tgis info I can help u all too, your not to old to enjoy your sex lives you like me who I 28 just need a 5 min op !

I have the same problem. Sex is so painful now. It doesn't matter how much lubrication we use, it feels like my husband's penis can only go in so far and then I'm in agony. I also have bleeding afterwards. All I do is apologize. I'm 59 and I feel like a loser. Seems like everyone else I know is bragging about their great sex life. Not us. At least there are others out there with the same problem.

I have this identical problem everyone else is describing... I am 51, and have felt this the last 2 years.. Not constantly.. But off and on.. Only thing I have come up with is to make sure I pee first.. Empty bladder.. and lots of foreplay.. Used to enjoy sex spontaneously, but now I find that if we try to do it on the fly, the pain in unbearable.. Obviously use the lube.. and one other things.. Check the angle that the penis is going in.. I find if it is more towards the front wall.. then it is like a knife .. but if I move my hips so it goes in straighter, there is not the pain. A little discomfort at first but relaxing and picturing an open and relaxed vaginal wall helps.. breath, realax... It's all I can offer, it has helped.. but still occasionally, I have to say ' Sorry, maybe another night ' ... Just too painful..

To all you ladies, I know exactly what you are all going through. As I went through an early menopause at the age of 47, and childless too! I started my perimenopause at the age of 44. I hadn't made love for 3 years, and I got the shock of my life, as sexual intercourse was painful, (especially around the cervix area), and not only that, I was bleeding too! I felt that my vagina had atrophied (shrank) lengthwise and widthwise too. My vagina felt very tight and not at all elasticated. I decided not to go on HRT when I went through the change, due to my late grandmother on my mother's side of the family having breast cancer. I decided to go an see my gynaecologist who prescribed 1mg of Ovestin Cream used with an applicator. For the first week, I had to use it every night, and then after that twice a week. She told me it was very very low in oestrogen hormones. This has helped me tremendously. However, I do recommend you ladies also use a fabulous and natural lubricant called, YES YES YES (I've found it to be the best natural lubricant that works). It doesn't cause any unpleasant vaginal smells either. My gynaecologist also suggested, when washing down below to use Aqueous Cream, B.P. which is fantastic too. I also use in between making love vaginal dilators too to keep it stretched.
