Hi there! I heard that dogs can suffer from a disease called parvo but I didn’t know that humans can get it too until one of my friend’s daughter got infected with a virus. What exactly is parvo in humans? Thx

Let me tell you one thing first that everybody keeps asking. No, parvo is not passed from dogs onto humans because it is not the same virus. In humans, it is Parvovirus B19. The most common illness caused by parvovirus B19 infection is "fifth disease," a mild rash illness that occurs most often in children. Occasionally, the rash may itch. The child is usually not very ill, and the rash resolves in 7 to 10 days. Once a child recovers from parvovirus infection, he or she develops lasting immunity, which means that the child is protected against future infection.
