I was 8 weeks pregnant with my son when a test finally said positive. Five days before that even a blood quantitive test said negative. I have PCOS and I believe that it what caused the negative.

My sisters and I all have pcos.  I am 38 and never had a pregnancy, my younger sister is 35 with no pregnancies.  My youngest sister was 23 and has pcos..worse than my other sister and I.  Since we've never had any pregnancies, she wasn't being careful and having protected sex.  She took several pg tests and they were all negative.  She kept having symptoms though and just put them off as something else.  Finally, she could feel a "knot" in her lower abdomen and went to the Dr.  The urine test still came back negative, but the blood test came back postive.  She was 4 1/2 months along and now has a healthy baby boy.  Lesson learned...pcos does give false negatives!!

With my first pregnancy i did not ever show up on a pregnancy test!!! and i had my period the first three months! She was born two weeks late, perfect, no problems...
Now, since then I have been diagnosed with PCOS and after a year of Clomid and ovulation therapy we are pregnant again. This one showed up on a home test and I haven't had my period since the first month...
Each woman and each pregnancy to totally different. My advice is to make an appointment and have the doctor look at her. "Better safe than sorry" I always say.

I'm 21 atm and have a very strong feeling i'm pregnant (probably 7-9 weeks),  even after quite a few negative tests. I've had pregnancy scares before but never had this strong feeling of actually being pregnant. I've had all the typical symptoms (nausea, headaches, lower back pain, my breasts have gotten larger and more noticeable veins, discharge (i've had swabs done and it's not due to infection). My bellys gotten larger in the past week as well with no change to my diet. I haven't officially been diagnosed with PCOS (something to do with the way my hormones are) but think there's a strong possibility i do have it. I had an ultrasound last week to look at my ovaries so is it possible they could have missed a pregnancy if they weren't looking for one? i'm so confused, i;ve made a docs appoitment but it;s not till next week. Fingers crossed xx

Ohh Nooo!!!I had finally put my mind at ease and now I'm panicking again! I'm 22 year old college student and have pcos. I last had sex May 23rd, 2012 the day before my period arrived. It is now July 5th, 42 days since my last period began. I hadn't been sexually active for about 2 years so I never kept track of my period and have allergic reactions to birth control. I was cuddling watching a movie with the guy I was seeing for about a month when he ripped my pants down, pushed himself onto me before I could say no and wasn't wearing protection but pulled out before he came.I felt violated and he became obsessed with me so I cut all ties. Tonight I took the 3rd pregnancy test I have taken in the past month and they all have been negative. I DO NOT want this man's child and am not financially secure to raise a child on my own, I live with my grandmother to aide her. I am scared to death that maybe I am getting false negatives seems how I am having weird cramping, always feel full even when I dont eat, constantly fatigued, soo moody, and have had a slight discharge like the last day of your period for about a week. I currently do not have a doctor or obgyn and am terrified of what one might say. Please Help!

Ps: I hope all of you wonderful ladies trying to create families with their significant others get exactly what you want and deserve. Best of wishes!

I was diagnosed with PCOS at around 21 years old and I am now 28.  I never had regular cycles so I would maybe have 3-4 periods per year.  Last November my cycles became regular after I lost around 20 pounds (At 5'8 I was only 150 to begin and went down to 130).  I have been TTC ever since I started getting the regular cycles.  My periods come around the 1st of every month like clockwork.  Per my Dr's recommendation, I started temping in May.  She will not give me any medications until she sees that I am not ovulating on my own.  I'm due back for an appointment in August.  As of today, I am around 6-7 days late.  I have only had discharge (milky color) and slightly tender breasts/nipples.  I took a HPT this morning and the results were negative.  I had these same symptoms last year and it resulted in what I think was a miscarriage because I had severe bleeding, almost passed out several times, and had to take iron supplements. The bleeding lasted around 4-5 weeks.  Nothing was ever confirmed by a Dr so I'm not really sure.  I want to wait a few weeks to see what happens, but I'm worried that I may miscarry if I'm not taking medications to hold a pregnancy.  Wondering how long I should wait to see my Dr?  My temperatures always run low and they have not really changed much from my norm.  All this talk about false negative HPTs is giving me a little hope and I am so glad I came across this discussion.

I really appreciate hearing this. I have PCOS and just starting trying to conceive naturally. My period is pretty regular 35 days give or take. I am on day 52 and have had various spells of nausea/bloating/etc for about 2 weeks.

I have taken 9 HPT since then, all negative, including one at Planned Parenthood yesterday in which I was told to relax and stop thinking about this. I can imagine she'd assumed I had not done as much research that have been and was not prepared to answer my questions.
The emotional roller coaster I experienced was similar to how I felt 13 years ago (i'm 30 now) when I was diagnosed with PCOS. The thought that perhaps I don't know my body as well as I thought I did. Since then, I have gotten to know my body and its cycles very well and have NEVER felt nausea, bloating, sore boobs, while waiting for my period.

My conclusion was that I was experiencing a phantom pregnancy, which is even more painful than simply not being pregnant. To think that I could want to be pregnant so much that I'd neurotically invent the symptoms and let them manifest in me.

At this point I either want my period to come so I can start a fresh cycle all over, or for someone/something to justify these sensations and inclinations of mine.

I went through three years of this, and I completely understand your emotions! I kept getting negative results on pregnancy tests and I would feel sick and then I got moody because I wasn't getting the answers I was looking for and everyone just told me it was in my head. However, about 2 years ago I felt it again, this time I just decided to ignore it because I knew it was back again, I ended up getting massive headaches and went to the dr. they did a blood test and it came back normal no pregnancy or anything, I let it go for about 4 more weeks and one morning realized I was having to go to the bathroom A LOT! I took a test and boom I was pregnant! I went to get an ultra sound and I was 8 1/2 weeks along! Hang in there! Make sure that your sugar levels are doing ok, it took me being on 2 different diabetic meds to help regulate my sugar levels and now I am pregnant with a little brother for my daughter! It's a rough road, but just make sure your taking care of you!

I'm 22 years old and have PCOS myself, I was diagnosed at 16 and resigned myself to the possibility that I would never have children. A few weeks ago I was sick, like having nausea, body trembling and low blood sugar, which was not normal for me, so took a pregnancy test, it came up negative. I shrugged it off, and the shaking persisted, and recently, the nausea has come back, usually when I am smelling foods, even ones I love, like pizza. My fiancee also says I have been acting stranger, and I have noticed I mood swing more. I've been really irritable and easy to snap, and I feel like I've gained weight, but only place it looks bigger is my breasts.

My mother in law to be has said that she believes the false negatives in pregnancy tests are a result of my pcos, and its possible I am pregnant. I go to the health department for my birth control which is what brings on my periods. This month I didn't take my pill as after my period, I lost the bag lol, usually though I get a period the month after I stop taking it, and its currently late by my math. My body has definitely been acting weirder, with me going to the bathroom more frequently (and I'm not drinking more than I usually do) and my intestines have been acting up.

I don't tend to normally ovulate, and I don't know if I have or not, but I'm hoping that I am pregnant, it'd be a godsend if it was. If anyone can give me some input on what they think might be going on that would be awesome.

IS IT POSSIBLE WHEN DOCTORS DO AND INTERNAL ULTRASOUND NOT THE NORMAL ONE THAT IS DONE ABOVE THE STOMACH. IS IT POSSIBLE THAT AN INTERNAL ULTRA SOUND WOULD NOT PICK UP ON A PREGNANCY? OR IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THE DOCTOR MAY NOT HAVE READ IT CORRECT ON THE SCREEN ... BECAUSE I MY LAST PERIOD WAS MAY 27TH AND ITS NOW AUGUST 7 ... WITH FIVE NEGATIVE TESTS AND A DOCTOR SAYING HE SAW NOTHING...LOLZ PLUS I AM ON METFORMIN ... AND I KNOW NETFORMIN IS SUPPOSED TO REGULARISE A PERSON'S PERIOD SO WHATS GOING ON...... I AM SOO HAPPY FOR YOU THAT YOU ARE PREGNANT THATS A REALLY GREAT FEELING AND EXPERIENCE BEST OF LUCK GODS BLESSINGS AND TAKECARE

Hi there, my name is Kelsey. I just came across this conversation online while I was doing some research. I realise you wrote this a loooong time ago! But everything you said sounded exactly like all the symptoms I've been having. I was just curious.. Did you end up being pregnant?! Thanks :)

I posted my reply on 7/6/12 when I thought I was pregnant. Found out that I was just late on my period because my cycles were off. But I conceived on July 4th! I finally got a positive test on 7/16/12! Hang in there girls! It's possible to conceive with PCOS naturally. My symptoms at the beginning of July must have been ovulation symptoms... The discharge and sore breasts. Good luck to all trying to conceive!
