I have the same problem. The tingling started about a month ago and I figured it would go away. It has not and I just scheduled an appointment with my chirptractor today to see if he might know what is causing it. Weird...I will post back when i find out more.

I have the same thing. The tingling just left of the sping under the shoulder blade. It started maybe 3 weeks ago and instead of getting better like i hoped it is just getting worse. I am going to the chiropractor toinght and hopefully he will have an answer as to what it is. I will post again tomorrow and tell you all what he said.

Haha,
I have been having the same thing. It starts to tingle like a numbing feeling for short periods of time right around my left shoulder blade. I scratch it and push on it because it bothers me but I dont have any discoloration. Just a numbing feeling. It's something I can ignore, I just want to figure out what it is. I would think it is nerve damage but I didn't injure myself and haven't been working labor or anything lately. I can't think of any reason for it.
I am not afraid, just curious because of all the similar cases I have seen on the net.
Good luck with the answers everyone.

I can't believe everyone is describing the exact same thing that I am going through. It's been about a month for me. I thought maybe it was caused by stress (I always think everything is caused by stress) because it started right when I started law school. But it sounds like maybe it's something else.
My tingling is right below my left shoulder blade. It doesn't hurt at all but it feels really wierd. If anyone figures this out, please let me know.

I have had that tingling sensation in my back for about a year now, its annoying but not painful. Mine is also on the right hand side near my shoulder blade which seem strange as so is everyone elses that i've read above! Over the last couple of weeks i've somehow completely done my back in but i'm not sure how. Its constantly aching - i dont think its muscular as it doesn't hurt to touch which worries me thats is a nerve or something to do with my spine?
Who are you supposed to see regarding your back?

I've had the same problem. Mine has been tingly off and on for about the last 12 years. I had alot of shoulder problems on the left side for about the same time length (tendonitis, scar tissue...), but never the same problem as I had on the right side. Lately, I've been trying to lose weight, and it's really bothering me. It's not just tingling, though. In the same area I experience this debilitating pain. It hurts so bad, it's difficult to breathe. They definitely seem to go hand-in-hand.
Today, I got fed up and decided to look on the net to see what I could find. All of these posts are great and all--it's reassuring to know I'm not the ONLY one. But it would be great if someone would actually post what they thought it was. I haven't really had any "injury"--just normal working out. And mine has gone on so long. I hate chiropracters--their procedures terrify me. And I guess I'm a little scared to go to the doctor, for fear they'll never actually find the real cause (similar to what happened with my left shoulder). It would be awesome if somebody could come on here with some answers or guidance. :-D

I also have tingling near my left shoulder blade. It comes and goes and is more agitating than painful. Mine is due to a ruptured cervical disk that is compressing that particular nerve. The tingling sensation seems to worsen with increased activity. I have found chiropractic care to be very helpful in reducing the symptoms.

I have a numb spot on my back, circular, toward the left, near the bra line. It comes and goes, sometimes for months at a time. There is no discoloration, no itching, no creepy feeling, just numbness. My guess would be that there is a pinched nerve, at times. It is just there, or it isn't.

Yep...same thing, only I hit my head on a luggage rack on a bus and had a horrible sensation shoot down the whole right side of my body. Three weeks later, neck and shouldblade are still painful and I finally went to the doc.
The good thing, necks not broken. The bad, an ultra sound showed my shouldblade muscles going into atrophy. Neck traction for the next three weeks and we go from there. They're thinking pinched nerve. A few weeks of traction and "stretches" should do the trick. If not, off for an MRI and nerve-tester-thingy.

This is bizarre that people are describing the exact sensation in precisely the same spot...below the right shoulder blade toward the spine. A spot about the size of a thumb, tingling off and on from time to time. Not painful, but a little hard to describe, and strange. I seriously suspect shingles. I had shingles about 6 years ago in my rib cage, and it was very painful, but the pain really couldn't be touched, and was not immediately diagnosed. Afterward, it "itched" but not on the outside of the skin, (aka, scratching did not touch it) which was really bizarre. Dr. said that shingles kills nerves, which causes this latent kind of itching/tingling. This thing on my back now is not really itching, but odd enough and off and on like the rib itching (still happens occasionally after the original painful episode 6 yrs ago), so I am convinced it is a form of shingles...just not the severely painful version. I suggest seeing your primary care Dr. if yours causes severe pain, because the shingles meds work well and fast. Mine doesn't hurt yet, so I'm waiting it out...it's just weird so far, which is why I looked to see if anyone else had the same experience.

I have the same thing under my left shoulder blade. The feeling is odd and annoying but it is more annoying that not one of you have any answers yet. I am going to the doctor for an x ray on Monday. If I find out what it is I will let you all know.

I'm with you all. I've had this numb tingling sensation on my back on the right side next to my shoulder blade for about two years and it usually is very infrequent but the last month it basically has not gone away. It is literally the same feeling as when my foot goes to sleep, it is about the same area as maybe a golf ball. I don't buy all the shingles guesses actually. I have not gone to a DR yet mainly cause I'm kind of an alternative health person...I would just like to know what it is.

Ok i have the same symptom as well. I have had it off and on for about a month..no injury.
My doctor said it is likely a precursor to shingles and that the rash will develop soon but it has not changed to a rash or become visible or painful at all so im doubting this diagnosis.
I wish someone had some answers.

I'm glad I found y'all! However, I'm wondering why nobody can figure this out.. What's so strange is that when you type in your symptoms into any search engine it brings up "tingling in arms, legs..." Not in your back.. I wonder why? I was involved in an MVA in July of 2008 and as a result have had a few disc problems in my thoracic and lumbar with mild compression fractures in the thoracic region. I still have intense pain along with the strange tingling sensation that y'all describe. It's definitely getting worse.. more prominent and also with the feeling that it could be spreading (uh-oh!).
You would think that a doctor would be able to describe what is going on. My pain management dr. seems to skip over the real problem and instead prescribe pain meds. and epidural injections Blah!

I have found that poor posture has alot to do with the severity of the tingling.
Try to always keep your head lined up with your spine and not slouch forward.
Slouching causes my pain to get worse.
It gets so annoying
