I have the same thing tingling, numbness, and itching next to my right shoulder blade and its dark in color too now...about the size of a lemon. It kinda looks like a bruise. At 1st it was just itchy...but now I have all of these symptoms, i have had this for over a year! I went to the doctor and she gave me bleaching cream...WTH??? I have made an appointment with a dermatoligist. I had to wait for 2 months to get in! My appoint is the 24th of Aug. I have also noticed my skin is kinda sagging there too now...I am totally freaked out!!!!

Hi there - in one way, that's better than having something which cannot be diagnosed.

If I was to take a guess, I'd say that you either have a fungal infection or related form of dermatitis, which can be treated with cream. Or you might have been bitten by something and had a bit of a reaction to it.

Let us know how you go, but obviously if you start feeling generally unwell, get immediate treatment!

Mine doesn't have a bruise and I'm actually convinced mine was caused by bad posture at my desk. I've been sitting up a lot better and making an effort to lift my shoulder a bit more. So guess that's it...

Cheers

Hi, I too have been having the same problem along with other situations like a strong pressure on my head, tingling here and there all over my body, change of temperature on one spot on my body... I have done a lot of research and in my case it has to do with my sensitivity to energy. I have found this information and I personally think it is a great opportunity for anyone and everyone to experience. Here is the link ***edited by moderator*** web addresses not allowed

yup...same here. It's funny because I was not going to search for this because I thought there was no way I would find anything but here I am. Mine is on the right side under the shoulder, no pain but annoying. I have been stressed and also was out in the heat doing a odd different workout outside a few days ago then went for a run in the heat. I normally exercise a lot but took the past 3 weeks off. So this was the first time I have exercised in a while. I was worried but now feel a little better after reading everyone's comments. I am concerned that some of you are describing symptoms that have lasted years!!! This doesn't hurt but I don't want it to last for years!! I am thinking It's a tweaked nerve or something, If people are saying it doesn't show up in x-rays then it must be due to some weird strain. I want to get a massage and see if it helps. I am going to try and stretch a little and see if that also helps anything. I think I have the same thing as the guy in Texas! But I have also been stressing about my health lately. I am 28 and in pretty good condition. I eat healthy and don't drink much if at all. I was sick a few weeks ago but I'm thinking shingles is not what I have, I would assume nerve damage....but I'm no doctor. I think I might go to the clinic on my University campus and see what they say. Why do I think they are going to look at me like I'm imagining this? It feels like it slightly tightens and tingles on one spot in my back for about 15 seconds at a time.....UGH It's so annoying

Approximately 2 months ago I was diagnosed with shingles on my stomach across my bra line. I then developed a small patch of it on the opposite side. I started to feel tingling in my back just below and or on my shoulder blade area. I asked my doctor what this was and he said it was associated with the shingles, nerve endings. I have been free of the shingles for over a month, healed nicely and never really hurt, but the tingling comes and goes every day in the same area and last about 10 minutes. I plan to discuss this with my doctor again. I also have suffered from pregnancy induced carpell tunnel and that began when I was 5 months pregnant and is steal in the process of healing and my baby is 7 months old. I am not sure if this is all linked to nerves but it starting to sound very common.

Hope this helps some of you

i have had a tingling sensation to the right of my spine under my shoulder blade for years now. i went to the doctors when i was younger and the doctor told me i shouldn't have back problems until i was her age and pretty much just blew it off. it comes and goes , sometimes it hurts a little. it starts to tingle when i wash the dishes and have to bend forward a little or when i sit a certain way. but anyway, i am still wondering what it is.

This is literally the same exact thing I've experienced in the same place. Starting in February, I noticed that when I wash the dishes for more than 2 minutes it would start with tingling and numbness, then pain if I keep it at for more than 10 minutes or so. Same thing when I'm driving alertly with both my hands on the wheel. I'm a medical student and spend 90% of my waking hours sitting at a desk either at a computer or reading a book, with not great posture. I was the driver in a car that was hit from behind by a drunk driver in Sept 2007 and suffered a concussion, but no back pain at that time. In June 2009 I had severe neck and shoulder pain on the same side as my current sensations about a day after straining myself lifting a heavy potted plant (lasted for about a week).

My biggest concern is that in the past few days, it has gotten much worse to the point where just standing for a few seconds will cause my back to start to go numb in that spot. These last few weeks have been the most stressful time of my life by far, so that might be exacerbating it. I would like to go and get an MRI, but I'm currently studying in the Caribbean. Has anyone with these symptoms had an MRI or gotten a diagnosis from a neurologist?

I have been suffering with the exact same problem, a tingling under my right shoulder blade.

I read all the messages here and got really worried but then thought about it properly. I have recently been working at in an office sitting at my desk 8 hours a day (prior to this I was active all day and did not have sensation), I also get it when washing dishes etc...so must be to do with posture.

Now every time I feel the tingling I correct my posture immediately ie: Ears aligned with shoulders and hips; and the sensation stops. I have seen a huge decrease in the tingling since doing this and suggest you all stop slouching at your desks and worrying and do the same!! :-)

I did see my doctor and he said it comes from sitting at my computer. So I started working on my posture while sitting on my computer and while standing and walking. the tingling is almost gone now. It seems it was from nerves and my bad posture.

I have the same thing. Mine is on the left side of my back and goes in under the shoulder blade and even into the arm pit. I've been going to the doctor for seven years and have still not found any solid answer. Positive it's a nerve problem though.
The most common answer i've gotten is that it is a bracheal plexus injury, or a nerve root pull out.

With me it started 3 months ago when washing up, seriously! I thought what the hell is that!? Tingling sensation below my right shoulder blade nxt to spine, it lasted 10mins then went.. one day at night I had mega pain and it felt like somthing had burst in my back but it only lasted a few seconds, over the nxt week the tingling started and stopped but by now I had gone on the net and read loads of horror stories... I was worried. then I found this web page and read all comments and felt a LOT BETTER.. Nerve, Stress, Srtain, Posture at Desk? So today I went to the doctors and he had a look, pulled me around and checked this and check that and said:

Its a traped nerve, stop worrying, the more you worry the more your mental state thinks its worse than it actually is. Just chil out and wait it out until is goes away, could be weeks, could be months..you can see a Chiropractor if you want but its your money.

it is inflammation in between a cartilage and a joint in the back.....take NSAIDS (non-steroidal antinflammatory drugs).

guys - oh my god - i am going through the same thing - a weird tingling sensation to the right of my spine - near my right shoulderblade. It feels like somebody is lightly putting their hand on my back. It is intermittent - definitely not constant. I then get a feeling like that area is 'cooling' off once in a great while. wtf?????????
