My 7 year old grandson has ongoing issues with pimples on his bottom that won't go away. His pediatrician and a dermatologist have recommended all kinds of creams and nothing seems to help. We have tried not putting anything on him, cornstarch, desitin, triple paste, and on and on and it continues. Sometimes it looks like someone has taken a razor and cut him by his anus. He has had this since an infant and it is so embarrasing and frustrating for him and his parents as they try over and over again to find a treatment. Can you help?

Hello judicarey1

I am not sure if this is going to help you but I can share my experience with you. My son has something called a viral rash on his bum. The spots look like pimples and I am sure that they are pimples more than spots.

I took him to the pediatrician and we have ointment to treat the spots or pimples if they become bothersome. But there isn't a cure or some permanent solution for this condition and he said we have to just wait it out. It can take months depending on what strain of the virus your child has if this is the same thing your grandson is suffering from.

Anyway if you see that there is no progress you can always change your doctor and seek second opinion. Sometimes this is the best way to deal with things. Good luck.
