Hi All, I have been suffering from pins and needles in my hands for a period of time. The tingling sensation at night keeps me awake. I feel lightheaded the following day, and can't cope very well .I would appreciate your advice on this condition.

Hello Mary,
You have pins and needles in your hands at night and feel light headed the following day. It's not uncommon to experience pins and needles in your hands. This comes from compression of nerves in your arms that connect with your hands. Pressure on your arm or elbow can cause this. Also, if you have cut off the blood supply to your hands by lying on your arm will cause needles and pins as well (that's really uncomfortable). There is nothing abnormal about this and most of us experience it from time to time. You might try sleeping on your back with your arms to your sides. This will prevent pressure on you arms and hence the pins and needles. The pressure points that are most vulnerable is your neck, elbows and wrists.
