Hi all. I was thought to have M.S when my sensations started. I have numbness in face, arms, torso and legs and hands n feet. After many many years of MRI scans and lumber punctures, blood tests etc, I finally got a diagnosis....T.M or to those of you who dont know about this..its Transverse Mylitus, damage to nerves etc, can be caused by infections among other things. I have been treated with high dose of amitryptaline and codeine on a night which helps me sleep. I also have found out that when im on holiday like greece my symptoms ease off a bit making me more mobile

Seems to me that you need to rule out bad circulation, and better to see a cardiologist rather than a neurologist. That's what I find from a google search. But could be vitamin deficiency too. But first make sure you don't have clogged arteries. That is serious!

I wake up with stiff fingers as opposed to other body parts that can be stiff upon wakening..:) but it's in the right hand and the most logical thing to me has been suggested by my nutritionist. That being that I sleep on the right shoulder and the nerves are being pinched in that shoulder. Also my neck has been stiff, and since focusing on stretching the neck regularly, the stiffness has lessened. the stiffness and tingling dissapears as the morning progresses, tending to suggest that my nutritionist is correct. I think that if it was a dietary thing, it would affect more than just the finger extremities?

The symptoms most of you are explaining are related to inflammation. I know this because i experienced this last year. I had the tingling, burning, pins, needles, aches, off balance... yes, a vitamin deficiency may be occurring, this can cause an auto immune disorder. Try multi vitamins, b complete calcium with vitamin D3. These all help and please consult your doctor and not just one diagnosis should ever be enough. It took 15 days, 7 doctors, to determine my condition. All in one facility( Baptist Medical Center Downtown Jacksonville, Florida). I allowed my condition to get to that point by neglecting minor aches, instead of moving fast. Ask questions when seeing your doctor about nerve, chronic inflammation, muscles, anything you can think of. If you feel it, is not your imagination! Trust me, I'm living through it and trying to recover from it!

I have pins & needles in my shoulder / arm & have had for a few months now. I can play tennis (with the same arm) but it bothers me at night. I had a full medical last month & I was tested for muscle / nerve reactions and came out as a good pass. Any ideas as it's quite distracting (& painful sometimes) ?

I get a very similar thing to what you guys are describing. the one morning i woke up to make breakfast, went through to the kitchen and put the kettle on. my vision went blurry and even got to a point where i lost my hearing for a few seconds, i don't remember much of what happened after that just that i managed to pass out knock the kettle over and burn my arm. not too long after this happened i walked back into the kitchen and as i stepped forward i fell over and almost broke my nose on the draws in the kitchen. i got taken to the doctor straight away and they did every blood test on the sheet, it all came back fine. after that i got refereed to a cardiologist who said i might have flat-lined when i fell but i didn't get that cause i wouldn't have woken up the first time if that was the case. after that i got refereed to a neurologist who said i had mild epilepsy, the pi;;s i was on seemed to keep the symptoms at bay at first but after a couple of months they started coming back. i then got told i have carpal tunnel syndrome i wore the splints for a year which seemed to help and recently (3 years after the original indecent) the symptoms are back. if i get pins and needles it starts in my hands moves up my arms into my neck my face goes numb and eyes start twitching. after that it starts spreading down my legs until my whole body is pins and needles. i just want someone to be able to tell me if its treatable and will the treatment get to a point that all these symptoms will stop. its getting to a point where i cant remember stuff without writing it down and this gets a bit concerning cause I'm only 25 years old and i cant work if i cant remember what it is I'm supposed to be doing when i get to work.

Hello Go to see a neurologist, and request 3 specific tests, as they are diagnostic specific, and don't let the Dr's tell you differently! I have for 30 years been living with such severe symptoms, and yet the Dr's have been down playing what is going on. First they will X-Ray your spine, bone diagnostic, second maybe an MRI, but it is for soft tissue diagnostics, Third is a CT Scan which will be more definitive for bone diagnostics, then if still they are not sure what is wrong INSIST on a SPECT CT SCAN, this is a CT with contrast, but will enable the Dr to produce a 3D rendering of your spine. This test was the ONLY way they discovered when I had surgery in 2004, my neck was set in a KYPHOTIC DEFORMITY, I was in so much pain I felt like every level in my spine had a wood burning tool against the nerves. In August 2012 surgery was performed and my neck pain was reduced by about 60 to 65%, but my low back is much worse now and I have the numbness, needles & pins, sleeplessness, for your own benefit you Have to be proactive when dealing with these Dr's that are the GODs of their fields, and when they make mistakes it is devistating! In my case for 5 years 12 to 15 different Dr's would just say I had a bulge here, a disk level too short there, and tell me to exercise more. When ever I exercised it made things worse. When they finally did my neck surgery they fused C4-T1 and when I woke up after surgery my pain was lessened by 40% but I had new pain from the Intebation tube, and the instruments used to remove calcification where the disks were gone, but also calcification was in the " Neura foraminal Canal" choking off several nerve roots where they make the 90 degree turn out of the spinal canal. Anyway the first 2 weeks after surgery my throat was so painful I ate anything I could eat frozen, or drinks too like Blended Coffee Fraps, Smoothies, ect. It was when my Dr finally did the Spect CT scan was he able to see just how messed up things were, and it was he that informed me of the various tests & their relavance. To this day I still need 2 more surgeries, in my thorasic spine T10 & T11, & L3 - L5-S1. Every night I never know if I will be able to sleep, & the numbness and other symptoms are constant! So don't make the mistakes I have, just trusting what the Dr's say! I'm seeing the "BEST", Beverly Hills experts and yet they screwed up my surgery, I returned to work for 2 1/2 years, and then was rear ended on the job, my back condition was made 1000 times worse, and because of the denial practice of workers comp. in California, they still have done nothing to help me.
