Why sea food can sometimes cause poisoning? My husband had severe allergic reaction on seafood that looked like poisoning. I mean, his reaction was caused by ingredient of food, and not by his immune reaction. As I can say, food was prepared properly, although I must say that I didn’t try it. What substance in sea food is responsible for poisoning?

It’s not exactly ingredient of food, it’s bacterium that is found in sea food. Poisoning with this bacterium is result of insufficient cooking. This bacterium is called vibrio parahaemoliticus and is sensitive on heat and cold. So it can be destroyed by proper storing and preparing food. Temperature below 40 degrees F for storage and over 140 dF during cooking should be taken for prevention of poisoning.
