side effects of a thyroidectomy are horribly too numerous to name. I had mine removed more than a yr ago and still not 100%. I know that I will never be yjr same as long as I live, yes, the emd result feels like a price i've paid for over and over.
I was just relezased from the hospital after being care flighted to a major hospital I ws dying from tjyroid poisonning, I was unconscious for almost 5 days. Who on earth would've thought the thyroid meds could turn into poison and damn near kill you. Well, it can! I was completely unconscious and fighting for my life for more than 5 days.
Do not take this surgery lightly. Iwould never rec this for anyone unless and until it's your last resort. The damage this surgery does to your body just isn't worth it for some.
Oh, and don't forget, you can lose your vocal chords causing the loss of speach.

Had a total thyroidectomy and I-131 ablation six months ago. Recent blood work showed antibodies at 150 and thyroglobulin at 17. Concerned may still have cancer. Any thoughts? Ultrasound of neck showed nothing.
