Iy has been 2 years since I contracted Rabdo.  Now I suffer from severe swelling of the legs where I can't even wear shoes and I get no excercise.  Drs. want to relate it to liver or heart problems where findings are insignificant.  I believe there is still a inflammation component from the rabdo that is causing the swelling in the legs and feet.  Wondering if steroids may bring the swelling down because the level of swelling would say I was in extreme CHF if it was a heart problem which I have none.  Any feedback would be appreciated because I'm going in circles with the doctors.  More tests and no results.    both a patient of Marshfield and Mayo clinics.

I'm sorry for late relpy and to hear about your issues.

Swelling of the legs can be caused by a variety of medical conditions, including heart, liver, or kidney problems, as well as blood clots, infections, and lymphatic disorders.

In terms of treatment, steroids may be helpful in reducing inflammation, but they also carry potential risks and side effects. It's important to weigh the potential benefits and risks with your doctor before starting any new medication. In addition to medication, other treatments for leg swelling may include compression stockings, diuretics, lifestyle modifications (such as exercise and dietary changes)

It's also possible that your leg swelling may be related to a medication you are taking or another health condition that has not yet been identified.

Of course I would strongly recommend continuing to work closely with your healthcare providers to identify the underlying cause of your symptoms . If you feel like you are not making progress with your current doctor, you may want to consider seeking a second opinion or consulting with a specialist in the field of nephrology or cardiology.
