I am so glad I found this, because people were making it seem like it was just me. As I type this I am in pain, I have already had one cyst removed. I had my tubal done in 1999 after my son (my fourth child) I was fine for awhile but for the last three years I have been in so much pain. Yes i have the mood swings, pain, and irregular periods. I am going to look into getting this reversed, when I had my surgery I learned that I was only clamped.

I am experiencing alot of the same symptoms and some others. In March 2007 I had a tubal, and for 8 weeks after the surgery I was told I had irritable bowel syndrome... But one day my stomach swole up and I went to the ER and they said after a series of tests I had a severe infection from the tubal. They helped me finally, but the dreadful began my periods starting getting stronger, heavier, I was starting to get more tired, more faint, and weak. So recently I started having headaches and my thoughts and vision were playing games on me. I went yesterday to have my yearly pap and they said I was going to a specialist because they believed something with in me having the tubal they believe has been causing these problems. I am awaiting to go to the next doctor hoping for answers. The doc yesterday said that they have been hearing of women having some problems after having a tubal. if i hear anything i will repost after my appointment good luck to you all I know how much I wish i would have never had the tubal

I also had my tubes clamped in 2002. I regret every day these decisions. but the pain i was suffering from i did care what they did to make it stop. i at times thought i was in labor again. the dr suggested burning my uterus lining after they od me on birth control pills to stop the bleeding and pain. didn't work just got sick. i had the buring done. 6 years later i could kick myself. i would love another child. i have so many symptoms like everyone has mentioned. i thought i was going crazy. i have break downs of no mayo on my sandwiches. kids avoid me during this time. it sucks. i have a strained marriage during these times because i blame my husband for talking me into it. now after 6 years the physical pains are coming back and i have no insurance. i know the emotional pains will always be there but any advice would help.how to deal and would to do physical. my marriage of 14 years is going to the drain.

I feel like I have been reading my life story. I had my tubal in 2007 after my last child. I have had many women tell me that they started having problems after a tubal so I asked my Dr about it and he laughed at me and said I have been doing these for over 25 years and never heard of such a thing so I proceeded to have it done....

Now I like everyone else went from having no PMS to horrible PMS a week prior to my cycle with extreme fatigue, and mood swings, the flow went from normal to heavy with clots, and two weeks after my cycle, I get a white/brown gel like discharge and pain where both of my ovaries are. The pain is primarily on the left side but both sides hurt.

How can all us of be having the same problems and the Dr's continue to blow us off?

I have read all of these posts and I have the same problems, the doctors tell me the same c**p, except they tell me that I have blood clots, and act like it is not a big problem, just get over it! Then I have one doc who finally prescribed me the pill, it is helping with the pain, but the depression and the mood swings are worse.. cant win for loosing! And another doc told me to take 3 ibuprofen 3 days before I will start, and when I am hurting to do the same 3 Ibuprofen (over the counter). It really does help, but does not get rid of the pain. Some of you may want to try this at least?

I've just today had a CT scan due to a mass felt by my gyn during my yearly exam in August. Had tubal 8 years ago. Continued to worsen over the years and sounds familiar to many of yours! Heavier and heavier periods - to the point of using 2 super plus tampons and a maxi pad every 1-2 hours for about 1 1/2 days, then more normal the rest of the 5 days. Also lived on Advil for a day or two during period due to extreme pain from left ovary. (Have even felt like something was 'attached' to my left hip bone - wierd, but now I think it's all related!) For past year or so the left ovary pain has begun to flair up about mid way between periods, then my low back kills me for about 3 days - to the point I almost can't walk. Used to head to the chiropractor, now realize it's all connected and I just tough it out. (My son-in-law is a chiropractor, so I definetly believe in it - just wasn't what this is about.) Anyway, after sonogram detected mass, now awaiting results from CT scan to see what is next. Hope it's all easily taken care of with a simple surgery, but I think it's kind of 'taking over' down there and am afraid many organs/areas are affected now. Believe me, I'm taking my doctor a copy of all these posts. Something is not right. I'll let you know what happens. Not looking forward to the surgery - just so nothing is cancerous, though. Think I can deal with anything else. Keep me in your prayers and I'll pray for all of you!

I knew I wasn't crazy. I know my body, I am a massage therapist. I am in sooo much pain every month for at least a week during ovulation: with only one ovary and fallopian tube on the right side, which is where the pain is. I am 38 with one child, who was born in 2001 via c-section. In 1997 I had an emergency left oophrectomy(ovary/tube removal) due to a softball sized cyst that was twisted around my ovary and tube (called torsion). That was more painful than labor. The reason I ended up having a c-sec (after a day and a half of labor and only dialating to 3 cm) was due to all of the scar tissue and adhesions from the left ovary surgery etc. My obstetrician sent me to have pelvic laproscopy shortly after the c-sec because she said the scar tissue caused me not to be able to have a vaginal delivery. So my husband and I decided to just stop at one child because of all that I had been through, and I hate birth control pills (make me gain weight and depressed), so I chose tubal ligation (only on my right tube since that I all I have to shut down). The Dr. used a metal clamp ( done in 2001 a few months after son was was born) and I have been back to see the Dr. last year (2007) and he along with my gynecologist have done ultrasound and CT scan and all it showed was free fluid (swelling) in the right adnexa (right pelvic/ovarian region). The excruciating pain and swelling on the right side pretty much happens every month, sometimes a month here and there will not be so bad. I have to take pain med and use heat and ice. It affects my bowels and bladder, I have even had a few bladder infections along with very frequent urination, with a full bladder still after uriinating. I am so tired and fluelike feeling during the weeks this happens and my sex drive has been gone for a few years. I am seriously thinking about a tubal reversal. The Drs. say I need another laproscopy to check for more scar tissue and adhesions, and I was told I had mild endometriosis. Help!

I knew I wasn't CRAZY... People look at you like you are crazy when you tell them the symptoms & that you think they are related to the tubal ligation... but I knew it... After years of light period & no PMS, Since my tubal in 2001...Im a basket case for a week a month - and the blood clots, lower back pain, and cramping (mostly on the left side) is miserable. I just left the chiropractor for unrelated back pain & the xrays indicated the clamps on my left side were about 7 inches up and over the the left side - & very close to the front of my body - where as the right one is on the center of my body - somewhere in the middle... what does this mean? why are the clamps all over the place in there? could this have something to do with the pain on that side? Help!

I just spent last Friday night in the ER for exactly this same thing. I have been struggling with pain on my lower left side since my tubal ligation in 2003.
At first I thought it was coming off the pill that was causing my heavy periods and pain. I had an ablation in 2004
In 2005 I had my left ovary removed because I was sure this was the culprit.
Now in 2008 I am still suffering.
Does anyone know of a doctor who specializes in this sort of problem? :-(

I am a 28 year old mother of 4! I have 2 boys and 10 months old twin girls. I had a c-section with my twins and opted for a tube tying at their delivery. Since then, i have experienced very heavy periods! it almost ruins my entire month. I have severe mood swings, cramps, and fatigue leading up to my monthly. Then, when I start my period I flood for days!! and Days! I go for my year checkup soon and I'm hoping there is a solution to this. With my busy life,I do not have time for these sorts of set backs!

REPLY: After my c-section in 1999, I had a lump in my abdomen that would hurt and really show before, during, and after my period. I went to the doctors and found it was a piece of endometriosis that had dripped out during my c-section and it was causing pain and swelling once a month. They actually went in and removed it during an outpatient procedure.

I'm so glad to see it's not in my head. I am 35 yrs old with 4 kids. All my life I had normal 5day periods with very little pain. After I had each of my kids I dropped the weight quickly too as I'm very active. After my 4th child in 2003 I had my tubes tied. The problems seemed to start a few months later. I now have very odd periods. at least a week of PMS sometimes 2. I have horrible pain and feel so tired all the time. I have put on 35lbs that I cannot get rid of and have never been this heavy in my entire life. I've tried to tell my doctor and he blows it off as "I'm just getting older and my metabolism is slowing down and it has nothing to do with this procedure". I've talked to some other friends having the same problems too. I was told from the other friends the only way to correct this is to have a hysterectomy. Only a partial where they just remove the uterus. I too have a high tolerence to pain as I had all my 8lb babies vaginal with very little stadol/demeral. I love my doctor but I'm going to contact a doctor that will take this seriously. Oh and I had my 3 oldest kids by 23 and my 4th one at 30. I had to say that to let you know I too let the doctor convince me the weight gain and difference in my periods was because I was getting older & had a baby at 30. I hope this info will help you guys out too. Good luck to you all & God Bless you!!! :-)

I can totally relate to these replies! I had my tubal back in 2005 and since then I have been suffering with extremely harsh menstrual cycles. As of late I have been also suffering with extreme pain in my pelvic area, always worse to the left hand side! some times the pain feels as though it is shooting directly up into my vagina! I've recently had pap tests, urine samples, pelvic exam. eternal examination and an ultrasound and they came up with nothing.I know this pain is not something I just came up with. I have also suffered from mild depression due to the fact at time I just don't feel like a complete women since my tubal! Any how I am scheduled to have a CT scan on the 12th of May. So here is to hoping!!
