I too am having some problems. I am 24 and had my tubal ligation in September 2006. Only my pain is on my right side. I am having the heavy bleeding (going through a super plus tampon in an hour to hour in a half), intense pain to the lower right side, back pain, sometimes the pain even goes down my leg. Sometimes it feels like I am pregnant and the babies head is getting ready to come out. My pain will get so bad to where I can't even get out of bed. I gained 25 pounds since September 2008 (my pain didn't start until then), I feel depressed at times too where I just cry all day long. My periods will come for 5 days. Stop. then start back up. I will bleed for a total of maybe 1 1/2 weeks or more. Every day I will be all tender and it hurts to even take the rag against the area in the shower. I went to the doctor in October 2008 and she scheduled an ultrasound and it showed that I had an ovarian cyst. My husband and I feel that the tubal ligation is causing all my symptoms and we are talking about getting a reversal done.

I was reading everyones post because I am clueless as to what is going on with my body!!! I had a tubal in 2006 after my 3rd child. Since then I have pain in the left and right sides of my abdomen in addition to heavy bleeding the first 2 days of my cycle. I have heavy blood clots and also bad migraines a week before my cycle. I also experience symptoms of a yeast infection with no discharge, just the irritation....intercourse is painful the week or 2 before my cycle...help!!! does anyone else feel this way?

I have had these same problems and i am planning on going to the doctor next week this has bee going on since the tubal ligation. It hurts to the point where i do not want to go to the bathroom. 30 percent of the time it feels like i have a major air bubble in my side. It hurts much lower if i am in relations with my husband. so this is affecting a lot more then just me. If i get an answer i will let you know and we all need to hang in there... Remember ... it may seem like forever however, nothing lasts forever.

I wondered if I was only of a few women that experienced this awful pain. It is hard to explain the, as I call it, piercing pain.
I had my tubes tied in 2000, when I woke from surgery I had the pain in the left side. I tolerated it a few months and went back to my OBGYN and he said my colon was twisted. Kinda just blew me off wouldn't you say. So after 7 years of pain on the left side, going to my back, having that pulling feeling from that left side and down my left leg I had enough.
I changed doctors and the new obgyn I went to, wanted to send me to a gastro doctor and have a bunch of test done to be sure nothing else was going on before doing "invasive surgery" as she put it. I chose not to take her advise, seemed crazy to me to go through a bunch of test when I knew my body. Needless to say I didn't go back to that doctor.
I actually moved and ended up going to a doctor in Greensboro, NC. He said I had scar tissue and probably adhesions that would need to be removed. He asked about my periods and because they were heavy, he suggested have the lining to my uterus burned, which I agreed to have done.
After this procedure, he advised I had adhesions and scar tissue on my left ovary and that I also had some on the right. He removed from both sides. He did advise I would probably have the same problem in about 2 years and now 3 years later I have begun with that piercing pain again.
The burning of the uterus was the best thing I had done, I now only wear a panty liner rather than thick pads.
Had the doctor that did the tubal told me up front the possibility of this pain, I would have not had the tubal. I would have insisted that my husband go through with his appointment (that he backed out of) to have himself taken care of.
The best relief I have gotten from this pain is using something like Advil, once I take it I am without pain for at least 12 hours. I am considering having the surgery again to rid myself of these adhesions.

I am with alot of you on this all. I am a mom of three kids I am 23 and I had a tubal done because i was done with having kids. With being married young and a mom young and having three kids i was done. I have had nothing but issues since i had my tubal done. I have been having very serious migrans and pains all through my lower stomach. I cant even enjoy a night with my husband anymore cuz it hurts too bad. I am constintly moody about everything. I have gotten depressed. I didnt gain weight though i lost alot of weight. i went from 138 lbs to 118lbs. I get such bad migrans to the point i cant even see and i feel like im going to pass out. I had my tubal done in may of 09. after i had my son. and its been nothing but problems. I cramp horribly and i feel like my whole in stomach is about to be ripped out of me or stabbed and cut up into many pieces. I been to a doctor they have said its nothing. Went back because it go so bad i couldnt breathe with out having sharp pains. they gave me muscle relaxers to relax me and said my gal bladder was swollen. I still have issues with it. I really wish i knew what was going on with me because its very irritating and taking time away from my kids and husband. And im tired of hurting. I have thought about getting my tubal undone but I dont have that kind of money. I dont wanna just sit here and die. Alot of ppl say its all in my head but i know its not. if im in pain im not much of one to hide it very well. I am a big baby about pain. Anyone have an suggestions about this all?

I, too, had a tubal ligation (cauterization of both of my tubes) SEVERAL years ago. My first period after the surgery was extremely painful. I told my MD and he chalked it up to 'aging'. It was quite interesting to me that such a significant change could happen in just 4 weeks. I was NOT taking birth control prior to the ligation, so this change could not be associated to a sudden change in hormone levels. Reasonably, the pain appears to be affiliated with the structural changes that took place during surgery.
The surgery was over 10 years ago. I continue to be in excrutiating pain for two days cyclicly each month. I have to take ibuprofen around the clock for the pain.
A few years ago I began to have this left lower quadrant pain. I have been told it is diverticulosis ... I am not convinced that it is. I will not have surgery again ... because I tend to think this pain is related to adhesions from the one and only intra-abdominal procedure I have ever had. I dont want to have more adhesions and end up with a toxic abdomen.
I read that it is normal to have menstral blood back flowing into the fallopian tubes during menstration. (I was researching endometriosis and causes thereof). A study has been done that shows evidence of normal functioning reproductive systems that naturally flush menstrual blood into the peritoneum through the fallopian tubes. This blood is then absorbed by the body. So .. I am thinking that each month this natural flow attempts to occur and can not because the tube is blocked and hence, I have excrutiating pain.
I have been a registered nurse for several years and frankly, doctors are not gods and they do not know everything ... and often times their ego is far to large to listen to simple reason.

I was doing some research on my up coming surgery when I came across this post. I had my tubal in March of this year. Ever since my tubal I have had cramping everyday of the week. When it comes closer to my period I feel more pain on my right side near where my tubes should be. As someone who has never had irregular periods or cramping (until now I didn't even know what cramping felt like), I am now having irregular periods. Sometimes I have two a month. The flow is heavy and I am now having abnormal sized clots. Within two months I called my dr. and informed him that I did not have a tubal to not enjoy my sex life and this tubal has caused a problem for me. My dr. put me back on birth control in an attempt to control the cycles and hopefully the cramping. Even on the highest strength birth control it did not touch the irregular periods, or the cramping. After 4 months of experimenting with birth control I was scheduled for another ultra sound. My dr. tells me everything looks fine, but discussed surgery options. I have opted for a Novasure Endometrial Ablation in hopes that I may keep my female parts and not need hormones. I am currently scheduled for surgery on Oct. 13th. After reading these posts and seeing that some women have had an ablation performed I am unsure if it is a surgery I should do. My dr. has informed me that this procedure should stop my periods all together. My Aunt has had it done and it has worked for her and has stopped her periods as well. My dr. stated that he is also going to do some exploritory surgery to make sure there is no scare tissue on my tubes. I was feeling really good about this until I have read all of these posts...lol.. Does anyone have a good story about the ablation procedure????

I just had my tubligation 9 months ago and haven't felt right since. My three day period that was about moderate went to 7 day of heavy bleeding and pain. Right before I feel like I'm in labor all over again. You know like the pressure form the baby's head coming down. I also have sharp pains in my abdomen that feel like the incision is still fresh, Nobody can tell me what it is the doctor thinks im nuts when i say its from the tubal that their are no complications other than tubal pregnancy that can occur after pregnancy. I think they are wrong and the just aren't listening to all the women who have had to deal with this there has to be some thing we can do about it other than just suffer through it. I have four kids to care for and i can do it if I'm too tired or in too much pain.

Well- I have a theory I had my tubes tied after the birth of my 4th child in Feb 07. I started having spotting in between periods-the periods lasted all month! Annoying to say the least. So I had an ultrasound in May 2008. They found a cyst on the ovary. Then June 2008 I was diagnosed with Stage 2b breast cancer 2 months after I finished nursing my last baby for a year. I had a double mastectomy, chemo, radiation, hercepton for a year and now I am on tamoxifin. I had been in menopause due to all the chemicals but surprise! A period in Nov 2009. The spotting happened again for 3 weeks. The cyst had shrunk -ultrasound in Jan 2009- but now Feb 2010-it has grown to the size of an orange. I am scheduled for a total hysterectomy next week-uterus, ovaries and cervix. Upon looking at these posts, I believe that the tubal ligation had something to do with the abnormal spotting and the gigantic cyst. We probably should do more research before we trust our drs. to mess with our organs.

I really did think this was in my head but my mother who has also had her tubes tied says she still has the same issues it was really bad through the first 10 years of hers then it started to lessen now that she is menopausal she no longer has these symptoms. Unfortunetly i do now and its very painful i had the best periods before I had my tubal done. 3 days max and light the whole time no pain and no bloating. afterwards period from hell immediatly after the surgury heavy heavy bleeding and pain so excrutiating that i know its from the tubal. Headaches so bad that im sick from the pain. all this is my monthly issue now i get sharp pain prior to starting my period in my left side then its a constant pain through 7-10 days that im on my period I have very large clots that are somthing i have never had. I also know that before i had this operation done I was severly allergec to metals so I did not have clamps i had my tubes cut and cauterized which my doc said was really hard to reverse but that was my only option for BC. so hopefully my doc will listen to me now and not blow me off. At least he has not diagnosed me with iritive bowels or such.

Doctors are not always right! But some are. I had a cyst removed from my right ovary when I was 17. It was the size of a grapefruit and filled with fluid. The right ovary was removed and my right fallopian tube due to the cyst being attatched to to both. My left ovary was sectioned like a grapefruit to remove smaller cysts.
Im 46 now and for the last 4 years ive had abdominal pain in the region of my right absent ovary. The kind of pain that bends you over and makes you curl your knees up in the bed crying waiting for it to stop.
I went to an internal specialist and had a scan done. Nothing was discovered except for the fact that from the surgery that I had as a kid has scar tissue like all internal surgeries. The pain is a result of the scar tissue attaching to other tissue in the area. The only cure for this is to have a General Surgeon to open you up and cut loose the areas of attatchment. Of course as I was told this also creates more scar tissue over time but hey, 20 something years after my first surgery thats something I can deal with.
I deal with depression too and mood swings. Periods that last for ten days. Stop. Come back a week later but thats been lifelong.
Dont underestimate the minds reaction as well as the bodies to a pain that you worry and stress about. It messes up your bodies peace. If this sounds like it pertains to your situation then I hope Ive been helpful.

I'd first like to say, I'm glad all this is NOT all in my head, but I'm not glad I'm not the only one suffering with PTLS, I couldn't wish this on my worst enamy. Anyways, I suffer from Fibro and other chronice problems for nearly 10 years now... so after my daughter being born in 2008, and a very difficult pregnancy carring her for the 8 months due to my already in place problems, I decided one of us should get fixed. (I got pregnant using birth controle 3 times now, and ibirth controle was effecting my libedo) Needless to say, my hubby was too chicken to get the simpler, near to nothing for side effects, done in the office, procedure done. Both my doctors recomeded that he have a visectomy done instead... but since he wouldn't budge, and I couldn't go through another pregnancey, I went ahead and had the surgery 3 months after. This is the BIGGEST mistake I ever made in my life! I've had very painful periods before, now I want to die, my chronic pains have dubbled, I suffer from crazzy, psycho lady pms, depression, and i zone out all foggy headed quite often. My biggest complaint now, is that I can not for the life of me loose wight... instead I'm gaining, and eating like a bird, gluten and carb free (I have celiac desase too, which I was diagnosed with 3 months ago) I try to walk every day, aside from chasing my 21month old around all day.. but keep gaining. I've always been pair shaped and carried my weight below my waist, now my stomachs growing in the upper half, I look about 6 months pregnant now. I don't know what to do... it's effecting my relationship with my hubby now and my medical state is getting worse, and I need to loose the weight, does anyone have suggestions? This is rediculouse, and there hase to be some thing that can be done other then reversal surgery, which is out of the question (and price range) for me right now.
