My doctor asked me if I like to crunch ice. I said "Yes!!!" and the best ice comes from Chick-Fil-A and WAWA. It is great for crunching. Have found out that Taco Bell has good ice too. I know I am severely anemic and am back on my iron supplements. If you find that you don't absorb iron well, try Ferro Sequels( I have only found it as CVS). It is time released and the only thing that my body can use. I have tried every prescription and over the counter iron supplement and nothing works as well. Also, when you take iron, make sure to drink orange juice or take vitamin C. It helps you absorb and use iron.

I've been reading all your posts, and I noticed I do something that I have seen anyone mention. I take several ice cube trays, fill them about half way, set the timer for 30 mins, and take it out when it's done. The ice is perfect. I do it over and over all day and night. I, too, am anemic. I have been doing this for years, but just in the last year I've started becoming totally exhausted all the time. I have played sports and been and exercise fanatic my whole life, but I now find myself out of breath from just carrying the trash out to the curb and walking back inside. I can sleep anywhere anytime. It's awful. I feel like life is going by while I just want to sleep or do something that doesn't require any physical activity. I have to force myself to go out and play with my kids. My teeth are destroyed because of all the years I've done this. For many years, I didn't soften the ice, and now my teeth are starting to fall apart because of this. It's embarassing, and it 's only a matter of time before I have to have them replaced. I had perfect teeth until the last four years, and I know it's all due to ice. .... and I still chew it because I can't stop!

I buy bags of ice and sit and crunch constantly... when I run out I have even been known to take the ice from around the freezer and eat that. I do tend to feel very lethargic and have recently started to get pain in my lower side/back and kinda worried now as I only have 1 kidney and concerned eating ice may be bad for me

I've been eating ice for over four years now. I dont leave home without it. I am also anemic, I carry a zip lock bag with me filled to the brim. Nandos ice is great. But I prefere to make the ice myself, crispy on the outside and mushy in the middle filtered water of course. The most refreshing time I've had eating ice is when I'm outside in the snow, yes it sounds crazy yet delightful.

You could have anemia like me, I do the same the ice you describe is crushed ice. I eat so much of it, I do it all day long. I've tried taking different iron regimens and non of them work, I go back to eating ice and I do have anemia.

I dont feel so strange now. Ive been crunching ice for 2years now, I think mine started after my bariatric surgery because of not getting the vitamins the body did before. But I stop at the local gas stations and fill 7, 44 ounce cups up with crushed ice everynite and one polar pop. Ive done this every day except while on vacation. Then when Im in the car or at a appointment I have to always have a cup of ice with me at all times. It has gotten to the point where I almost have a panic attack when I dont have ice available.I have a dr. appointment soon as I have been anemic but he had said if it hadnt gotten any better by my next appointment I might need blood transfusions or injections whatever is necessary. So it is emotionial and physical.

ok I have been eating ice for 35 years and I tend to do the same thing comparing it to drinking water , the truth is you get very little water eating ice and I LOVE the frosted kind to ! The problem you probably have is you are anemic . I have struggled with anemia most of my life. Having low iron for some reason they are not sure of makes you crave ice , its a simple fix eat foods high in iron or take an iron supplement. Of course talk to your doctor its a simple blood test to test your iron levels , but I bet this is your problem. I am called the ice princess , I even have different stores I go to for different kinds of ice lol crazy huh ! I take my iron but still eat my ice because now I just enjoy it . I don't crave it like I used to, so good luck and hope this sheds some light on your situation.
