I have been reviewing many of your post. Seems a lot of you have the same symptoms with this life of ice we live. Yes, I live in this world also and have been for years. Love it. I'm also a health nut and have learned how to combat these symptoms most of you experience. Whether you guys realize it or not, all of you like the soft chewy ice, as do I. The reason for this is that cloudy substance that freezes in the middle are minerals that are in our water. And yes, there is iron in our tap and we'll water systems. As most of you have experienced, your iron tabs cause you guys constipation. To help with that take a digestive enzyme. And if you guys or gals need a good source of iron, there is a great product called blood builders by mega food. The fatigue you experience is due to your body holding water, then flushing it out, along w other your electrolytes, very important. Coconut water is great for this. With that said, I look ooze me some ice. I consume a minimum of 9 44 ounce cups a day. I know every gas station and restaurant within 50 miles that have the best ice and as most of know, all ice is not created equal. I even have the pilot station who if you have your own cup, it's free. Bad mistake, lol. And to beat it all, they have a rewards program there that every cup of ice you buy, you get 3 cent of a gallon of gas and you can save your point up to a dollar of a gallon. I get a double wammy. Well, hope this was helpful and will allow all you ice loving people to keep enjoying the life of ice.

It makes perfect since to me. The absolute best ice on earth is shave ice. I also eat ice constantly. My ice maker can't keep up with me so I also use ice trays and start with warm water so the ice is more frosted. Ice eating IS a symptom of anemia so you might want to check your iron.

I am a person who eats a lot of ice all the time. I even get up at 3 or 4 in the morning to get me a cup of ice. lol smh Anyway, I notice that when I eat too much ice,( I don't know what or how that is) I start to cough and gag sometimes throwing up whatever I consumed prior to. Does this happen to anyone else? Or has anyone dealt with this and if so could someone maybe give me an explanation of what this could be? Thank you for all the reply's in advance.

Just take a stool softener such as collace. Doctor's usually prescribe or suggest the two together. However, the are both over the counter so you can go just about anywhere to get them.

I also do the same thing. I have been eating ice for the past two years. As much as I try to distance myself away from eating ice it just gets worst. Every time I eat ice I sit in my room with my heater on just so I won't feel so cold. I'm thinking that I have iron defeicency but I haven't been told by my doctor. What should I do?

I started eating ice cubes when i was 18, i'm now 30 years...12 years down the line...the cravings seems to be growing each year. i eat 6 trays evry morning before going to work, i have a fridge in the office, so i eat about five trays at work, and i eat 6 trays again when i get home in the evening. i wake up at night and go straight to the fridge to eat two trays ad go back to sleep. Sometimes i think it is a stress relief haha..

It is not only women.  I have severe anemia due to kidney failure and I'm on dialysis.  I get iron and epogen to help with the anemia, but it's not enough to stop my craving for ice.  I've been an ice eater most of my life.

I soooo understand you. seriously it is a terrible "habit".
When I was pregnant with my youngest ( 23 years ago) I chewed ice non stop. My husband had to make many ice runs for me. At that time the Tom Thumb Store down the block had great ice. little square cubes. After he was born I was back to normal, no ice chewing.
Now I am in metaphors, it's has started all over again for the last year!!!! I don't like it and I know others are bothered by my crunching.

I have been eating ice for the last 5 years and I noticed that for the past 2 years that it has gotten worse, at first I was eating it constantly from the ice maker and that was the only ice that soothed my craving and then I found out that the glacier ice is the best type and it crunches very easily, I have mentioned this habit to my doctor reapeated times and I have been tested to see if my iron is low and they say all is good but I know that something is not right at first it was a cup or two in a large cup but over the last year I am going through an entire bag of glacier ice which is 7 lbs in 1 to 1 1/2 days, and I know that is just not normal, my husband is saying that I need another opinion and the crunching is driving him crazy, he will go into another room cause he is so bothered by me eating so much ice.  I thought I was craving so much ice to mask the pain, because I lost my 4 month old baby 5 years ago, she had an enlarged heart. Eating ice was the only thing that made me feel better, now i'm at the point when I know something is not right.  Any suggestions?
