Oh my goodness. My hearing sounds like a broken speaker is exactly what I googled to find this. This has been going on for 3 days. No real pain, no illness, no recent exposure to loudness, no history of hearing issues. It just seemed to happen suddenly, out of nowhere. Any updates for you?

Hello, did anyone here ever managed to find the cause?

Does anyone find it interesting that almost everyone has the problem mostly in the right ear, myself included? I wonder if that has any significance?
I am a stomach sleeper and, since I notice it worse in the morning, I thought perhaps I was sleeping more on my right ear but I am not sure that is it.

I’ve had the same exact problem for 4 ears now. I remember that my teacher hit me on the head and when the period ended and the class got loud the ear problems started so it could be cuz of that but he didn’t me hard or anything it was just a smack.so could it be cuz of an head injury?

Hello
I don't know if what I'm going to say helps anyone, but it seems that I fit very well into this group regarding the symptoms I have.
Four and a half months ago, I had an operation on my left ear, being diagnosed with bilateral otosclerosis. after the operation everything was ok, the dressing was removed after 10 days and the hearing returned almost to normal. being very happy that after 10 years of facing this disease I regained my hearing again. I was only happy for a month until the distortions that I still have started to appear and no doctor can solve them. These distortions are exactly as you describe them on this group (broken speaker), they are not only on high frequency sounds, I have them on low frequency ones as well.
examples: when two glasses collide, when tap water comes into contact with the surface, when I open a bag of chips (the sound created by the packaging creates a distortion), when a truck passes on the street (the exhaust sound creates a distortion on the low frequencies), when the dishes in the kitchen hit a metal surface or between them, when a door in the house is closed by someone (a distortion is created on the low frequencies) the list is long.
they are terrible in the car, the narrower the space, the greater the distortion, when the road is uneven and there are potholes, I feel small continuous pops....
I searched almost daily about this problem, it is said that after otosclerosis surgery some people experience these distortions that last for several weeks. That's why I'm not in that category because I still have them and they make my everyday life very stressful and depressing.
I don't want to complain, I know there are other worse cases here in the group, but I'm curious if anyone in the group was operated on for this disease and had these symptoms?
I have noticed that there are many people with this problem regarding sound distortion here without having had any kind of surgery. I'm sorry that we have to go through this situation. I hope you are well and you got rid of the problem!

Thank you in advance!

Well, another one with the same problem. It has been 6mo for me. I had an ear infection in July with lots of pressure, pain, and hearing loss. Hearing mostly came back, but some loss in middle/upper hz. I have broken speaker sound out of the right when I talk or am around any medium/loud sounds. It's driving me nuts! Some slight dizziness started a few weeks ago randomly, but is not too bad. Tinnitus is worse in that ear now too. I swear there is something loose in my ear causing this vibration/buzzing/rattle, and the pressure from the infection caused it. It feels like I need to equalize as well. I've had an MRI and CT. So far they said not SDSS from the CT, unlikely Meniere's. Doing many more tests and working on neck/jaw muscles via therapy. If I push on my ear canal with some good pressure the broken speaker noise seems to stop a bit.
