Hello there,

An anal fissure is a break of the skin in the anal canal. Anal fissures are usually noticed by red anal bleeding on the toilet paper.

If you have chronic problem with anal fissure than you are probably experiencing severe periodic pain after defecation. Anal fissures are usually extending from the anal opening and their depth can be superficial or sometimes even down to the underlying sphincter muscle.

About treatment procedure, usually non-surgical treatments are recommended initially for both, acute and chronic anal fissures. The usual treatment option is injection of botulinum toxin into the anal sphincter and sometimes warm sitz baths, topical anesthetics, high-fiber diet and stool softeners but these are lighter measures and this type of treatment lasts longer.
