I'm 33yrs old and considering donating one of my kidneys to my nanny(godmother). however, I have 3 young children and don't want to shorten my time with my kids so is it a big deal to have one kidney? thanks

Hi Jeffrey,
It's a very generous offer you are contemplating. Are you compatible with your godmother?
You can live a perfectly healthy and normal life with only one kidney. Just watch your blood pressure as high blood pressure is bad for the kidney. Assuming you are in good health you should have no restrictions whatsoever.
I can't think of a "pro" just the generosity. There are few cons, one being that if the other kidney was ever injured you wouldn't have a backup.
Think about it.
Good luck.
