My son (10 y.o.) just had the rash on his facial area while flying. This thread has been helpful as it is common when you fly. But not sure what to treat it with as this is our first night in Turkey. I will try to find a doctor where we are staying and hopefully They can find a solution. If they will, I will post it here.

That's the same thing that happened to me a rash from the plane I started to get a burning felling on my arms with felling ichey by the time I got home I had a really bad rash thinking that maybe its from the cleaning products that they use but it continue to spread so I also went to the dermatologist they did a biopsy. So its artiral allergic eruption/ haives internal and external. can't rule out possibly a insect bite or something I had contacted with( like the cleaning products). Now I am in a 5 day protocol if methylprednisolone and on the cream triamcinolone.

I too get this rash around my ankles when I fly somewhere and then go on extended walks. A couple of years ago it was particularly bad in Rome when it was very hot. I went to a chemist and they suggested I try the gel Fenistil. It worked really well. I cannot purchase in Australia, but I think it can be purchased online.

Hey everyone, this happened to me recently and I used Zinc to clear up my skin. I happen to have a shampoo at home that has zinc in it to clear up dandruff, so I put a little bit of that shampoo on my skin (face) where I had the rash while I was shampooing my hair, as I rinsed my hair, I rinsed the infected area and literally within an hour I saw and felt the difference!!! I was so happy to have finally found a solution because the rash was agonizing. The shampoo that I used was Selsun Blue, maximum strength. Hope this helps and best of luck everyone!

I recently went to and from Japan and got the same rash from my knees down tk my ankles. I don't know the cause but i really does have a sting to it and very hot feel as well. But i have found that if you take a shower as normal and just before you are going to get out wash the area's with cold water and the itch and sting along with the hot feeling goes long enough to to enjoy yourself but the look of the rash still may cause some embarrassment if you let it. But that is just my thoughts on the rash.

I have the same thing. Did you ever figure out how to prevent this?

The last 5 times I have flown I also get a rash, but only on the flight out, not the returning flight. My rash appears on my neck, shoulders, upper arms and groin area. I don’t like flying so wondered if it was anxiety. But only happens on flight out. It goes away after I land within a few hours.Could be connected to being warm on flight and flying to a warmer climate. This also started after I had a severe allergic reaction to a wasp bite. Anyone else have this common connection?

Killing me at this moment after 2 flights totalling 11 hours. Horrible rash all up my arms around my stomach and and behind my knees. I'm taking antihistamine and hoping for the best. Maybe take a shot at sea bathing.

I've had this problem on my ankles after long flights for the past few years (I'm 75), but not before that. There might also be a correlation with heat and humidity. A thorough washing seems to help a little, followed by a fresh application of whatever ointment I'm using. Moisturizing lotion doesn't help. A pharmacist in Germany recommended Fenistil, which helps relieve the itching, but the rash continued. I'll try zinc oxide on my next trip. Thanks for this suggestion!

Breaking out all over the areas of my exposed body is the new normal for me sadly when it comes to flying. I've found Apple Cider Vinegar helps me, it dries the rash out and helps with the itching. You can add a cup or two to the water, or apply it directly l.

My symptoms are the same, I get the on my ankles and it spreads up to my knees, last time it spread above my knee, it is very red and very itchy, we have done a fair bit of walking on our 2 overseas holidays. The first time we were in LA in October and it started 2 days later after walking all around Disneyland for 2 days. It lasted almost 3 weeks. The second time, we were barely off the plane in Dubai and I had it worse than the first time. Had not even done much walking at all. The only other overseas flight I had was to New Zealand and it didn't happen, it was cooler than the other 2 holidays. Did you find anything to give you relief. I tried antihistamines, cortisone cream and calamine lotion, nothing seemed to help much at all. It ruins the holiday. We have another flight planned in 6 months to Canada at the end of their summer, I am scared its going to happen again and ruin my holiday. I too think it is an allergic reaction to something on the plane, and then the heat exacerbates it. There has to be something we can do!! Very frustrating

Could be heat rash. Heat rash occurs in hot humid climates. Staying in a well air conditioned room can help and also using aloe Vera.

My father had an itchy rash in his armpits and around his waist about a week after flying. He went to his dermatologist and was diagnosed with scabies. We can only assume he acquired them at the airport or on the plane as no one at our home showed any symptoms.
