It may be mucous. It helps with the bowel movement and some would be normal.
This does sounds excessive however.
Is this new? If it has just developed then you should see your doctor for an exam. Any change in habits is reason to be seen. It may be an infection, ulcerative colitis, or possibly irritable bowel syndrome.
Get it checked.
