Hi...is anyone on this site still? I am to have this repair done on Monday and PRAYING i am back to normal. It is so sad how there is NO information regarding this? I was told I have a tiny hole - size of a top of a Q-tip and that it should be fine. Due to vaginal birth that was an absolute NIGHTMARE and traumatizing event for me just 4 weeks ago. I guess I am lucky to have this getting attempted to be fixed so soon as I noticed days after birth something was wrong down there. I'm in the Boston area, seems we have very good specialists here. I feel horrible for all the ladies out there that have had to live years with no help on this. HOpe everyone is doing ok and I am personally hoping for some positive reassurance here as I have read a lot of unsuccessful stories.
Hi B,
I'm going to have another try through the vaginal side. The MD described it as sewing layer upon layer until it's thoroughly closed with the sutures absorbing and not needing to come out. The first one I had done was through the colon wall and that was just a flap. That lasted for a while (some months) then gave out. The RVF first showed itself after a sphincteroplasty I have doubts about ever needing. 2 weeks after that i had the ostomy. I think we all try to go forward with our procedures hoping the MD's are honest and as successful as they report but these procedures are always with risk and there are no garauntees (sp?). I think the ostomy really helps the healing it just takes some getting used to. I think any loss of a bodily function is hard to deal with mentally as well as physically. Know that it's not permanent and there's a lot of support out there to help deal with it. Good luck to you.
ShellSue I understand your frustration and hesitancy to try again. You sound like you have a lot on your plate. I would just say your health has to be up there on your priority list in order to do the rest well. I hope your Md has some hopeful thoughts for you after your exam. My surgery is January 26 and am trying to 'forget' about it til after the holidays. Let us know how things go. Penny

I flied from New York to Dallas for a very experienced urogynecologist. But the surgery was failed. It's devastating. I felt that my specialist knew little about the pre-op care and post-op care. He was not a right dr. to choose in the first place. Can you let me know your specialist at Washington medical center? Thanks.
