I am 27 years old and my gallbladder works 10% of what it is suppose to and so they want to remove it. I am very nervous about the after effects of the surgery. I have not ever had any trouble with weight gain and now I have been reading some of the earlier post about gaining weight. Another thing is that some people are telling me that every time you eat you go poop within 30 minutes. I am in a work enviroment where I can't just get up and go to the bathroom whenever need be. If anyone has some answers please help me. Thanks!

Hi:
Regardless of the answers, here's what will matter in the end. What are the consequences of keeping your gallbladder (@10%) and more importantly, what are the consequences of removing it. Make a list. Now make a list of the benefits of keeping the gallbladder and the benefits of removing it. Don't leave anything out. Include the medical consequences as well as the personal and lifestyle ones. Compare the consequences, then compare the benefits. Only you know what you can live with. Be prepared to live with any of the possible consequences/benefits of your choice. This is how you will feel more comfortable with your decision. I don't believe that anyone is ever 100% sure of any surgical procedure. It's a fear of the unknown, but that's to be expected. Best wishes. Let us know what you decide and how you are doing.
