I did a full out 'push to failure' routine with a trainer for the first time today and I was almost physically sick afterwards. I'm scared to death about how I'm going to feel tomorrow (and the next day!). What can I do to minimize the soreness! I'm playing in a charity bowling tournament tomorrow and I don't think I'll be able to pick up a ball! HELP!

Ouch, I'm sorry about that!

An epsom salts bath really helps release lactic acid out of the muscles as well as repair miniscule rips in the muscles, both which cause soreness. Go to a local health food store (this way you'll get the highest quality) and buy a box of epsom salts. This should not be an expensive buy at all. Run a hot bath and place 2-5 cups of salts or more or less according to directions. Stay in the bath at least 20 minutes.

You also want to be sure to drink A LOT of water. Of course, don't make yourself sick, but be sure to drink enough water that you pee a lot and don't pee color.

I know this will probably be painful, but be sure to stretch. Lactic acid build up can inflame and tighten the muscles. You'll want to keep them limber for your tournament.
