Hi
I'm new to this forum, I hope someone can help me! I'm totally desperate and would appreciate any information or advice
I am continually getting a servere stomach pain under my right ribs every time I start running, usually after 5-10 minutes, always in the same place - and it's agony! Spoken to my GP and he thinks it might be stomach acid, but I've tried taking tablets before running, drinking lots of water or not, eating before hand or not eating at all - the only thing that I an do is run immediately after a big meal, but I don't think running on a full stomach is all that good for you... breathing differetly doesn't help either, I usually keep a good breathing pattern.
I use to run a lot in my late teens, really enjoyed it and felt amazing. I really want to get back into it and maybe do some competing - I'm 24 now and have had this problem for at least the last 2 years.
Any suggestions??
Thank you very much for reading

I think, you should slow down your speed when experiencing the sharp pains. It'll help by getting the body used to the pain. (:

This also happens to me. I get a sharp pain on my lower right side. I get it usually after running 20 minutes or so, I just run through it trying not to slow down too much, it usually goes away within a few minutes of running with it and I go back to normal. It really hurts though, especially during a race in which you can't afford to slow down.

I used to get a sharp pain on the left side of abdomen. Basically a stomach cramp from running. It just went away after a short break from running, but yeah, what can you do in the middle of a race?! lol
