Okay so I know this post is old but I’m hoping this might kind of help any one who comes here looking for some answers like me. I have been experiencing this pain for like 9 years. I have had two children and this pain trumps even that pain. It’s like a muscle spasm in your butt. I describe it as a Charlie horse in my butt. It’s sharp and stabbing and the more I move the worse it gets. For me it can last for hours, or all night or day. It used to only happen every once in a great while. Now it happens damn near every time I have sex and some times even just doing normal things. I also have irritable bowel syndrome and suffer a lot with trapped gas and bloating. I know for sure having sex while bloated with gas makes it almost guaranteed to happen. But some times it happens even when I think I’m not full of gas. For years and years I had nothing to relieve it. And it’s so embarrassing. Especially when it happened with someone new in my life. How do I explain why I’m crippled over in pain in my anus?! Anyways pain relievers do not help. Then I met my husband and he has a prescription for muscle relaxers for occasional bad back pain. Muscle relaxers DEFINITELY take the pain away. So the passed week or so I have been struggling with being backed up and having gas pains from my IBS. But I thought I was all better and had sex. It threw me into a rectal spasm right before I needed to take my daughter to school. I ended up having to take a half a muscle relaxer and passed out and my husband had to do everything. I couldn’t take anymore so I scheduled a doctor appointment luckily for that day. I explained exactly what was happening. We discussed my IBS issues but unfortunately she didn’t have any answers for the spasms. She did give me a referral to a gastroenterologist and I will be insisting on a colonoscopy. I want to be sure there is no other serious issues before I start treating it as something not serious. Especially because of all my bowel issues. But I will also be scheduling a PAP smear with a gyno because as my doctor said, those two areas are very close together. I have also noticed from feeling around that at these times my cervix seems to be very low and when it’s rubbed on it starts that pain feeling in my butt. I was hoping my doctor would give me an anti-spasmodic medication to prevent them from happening, but she didn’t. I will ask the gastro doctor for some. Because although the muscle relaxers relieve the pain, they make you so sleepy and I’m a mom and can’t just pass out at any time and I just don’t wanna go through this in the first place. I also noticed it happened with guys who had long thin penises. Graphic detail I know. But after so long I’ve learned a lot at what triggers it. Also certain sex positions and if he has a curve in his penis that will rub up against the walls of ur rectum should try a position where he doesn’t rub right there. So I probably won’t see these doctors for a while because I’m sorting some things out with insurance. But for anyone looking I recommend asking for muscle relaxers. Tell them you’ve tried a friends and it worked. My doctor gave me my own prescription for muscle relaxers so I don’t have to take my husbands. She gave me flexarol 5 mg. I always took my husbands and I only took half and his are 10 mg. I would also recommend seeing a gastroenterologist and explain it as rectal spasms. And get a Pap smear explaining the same symptoms. If you can get an antispasmodic that would probably be better than the muscle relaxer. I’m still tender and recovering from the most recent episode. So I’m going to take another muscle relaxer and ibuprofen for any swelling and go to bed.

Although, I a bit a DR, I would state the ED was way off on stating it was a virus or the flu.

I will also add that I had an exam done and ultrasound, and they both came back normal. The rythym of the sex probably causes air to become lodged inside your intestines, causes severe, sharp pains. I know for certain I had air trapped because I even went to the extreme of pressing on this from inside my rectum, and sure enough the air was released (causing less pain) and the intestine to not be as bubbly. Yes, sometimes ppl go to extreme measures to feel better when in a lot of pain.
