HELLO,
I AM 29 YEAR OLD FEMALE WITH TWO CHILDREN, AFTER HAVING SEX WITH MY HUSBAND WITHIN FEW MINUTES I STARTED HAVING SEVERE ABDOMINAL PAIN,REALLY DULL PAIN. ALSO I FELT VERY FAINTY, SHIVERS, PINS AND NEEDLES AS WELL AS BEING SICK. I COULD NOT MOVE AT ALL, I WAS EXPECTING TO FIND SOME SORT OF POSITION TO EASE THE PAIN BUT I COULD NOT. AFTER 40 MIN THE PAIN STARTED TO EASE OFF AND WE WENT TO THE LOCAL DOCTOR. AFTER EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL EXMINATION I KNEW I DID NOT HAVE ANY KIND OF INFECTION AND WAS LEFT WITH SOME PAIN KILLERS FOR THE REST OF THE NIGHT WHICH DID HELP(BY THEN I ONLY FELT MY STOMACK ACHING SLIGHTLY AND A BIT BLOATED), HOWEVER THE PRACTITIONER COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING OBVIOUS WRONG WITH ME.
WOULD YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHATS HAPPENING AS I AM RATHER CONCERN SO IS MY HUSBAND.
KIND REGARDS

I'm completely fine today.....
No idea what is/was wrong. I am due to start my period in 2-3 days, but this was too severe of pain to be regular pre menstrual cramps.

I am 31 years old with one child and am married. I too have had the exact same symptoms as you all. I am fine prior to having sex, but once we start having sex I have the most severe pain that I have ever had in my life. I got chills, sweats, could not find any position to make the pain go away. I could not stand up, sit down only just lay down with a heating pad on. The heating pad did help a little. The next day around noon the pain finally went away. I do have an IUD, and have had one every five years. Any ideas?

Painkillers are useless as they take ages to kick in. I find that the best treatment is a hot water bottle - my boyfriend is very understanding, he can tell when the pains are kicking in and runs off to fill a hot water bottle very quickly! We also avoid deeply penetrative sex in the week before my period, and this definitely helps.
After all the investigations you can possibly have, the professionals have now told me they don't know what's causing the pains - "it's just one of those things". I have had regular smears, numerous internal examinations, plenty of swabs which came back negative for infection, two ultrasound scans and finally a laparoscopy. This is a day-care minor operation under general anaesthetic where the surgeon makes a tiny incision under your belly button and uses a microscopic camera to have a look around and take a photo. Your belly is inflated with carbon dioxide to give them more space to move things around a bit. This leaves some pain in your diaphragm and shoulders for a few days, but does fade. They recommend a week off work, overall it took me a couple of weeks to stop aching completely as I was badly bruised (I bruise like a peach anyway!). After all that I was told that my insides look completely healthy, no endometriosis, cysts, fibroids, polyps, anything... This was good news, but I still don't know what's causing the pain!
I would recommend you all go to get it checked out, as they might find something that they're able to treat you for. But if like me you might be facing this forever, you have to find the best way to cope with it and avoid it where possible.
Sounds like there are lots of us out there!

If anyone has heard any new information, please post. I would love any ideas. Thanks.

2 days ago I had sex, and had these pains for an hour or two. Today I had a sore lower left abdominal, had sex, and almost immediately after was in terrible pain, felt rather spacey and rather sick.
I was just wondering if anyone has found out what these pains might be caused by? I've heard a lot of talk about ovarian cysts and endometriosis....but, as I don't have health insurance I want to find out if this is serious before I go in.
