Jellybean, if you are a female, I would say ( if you haven't ), get to a good naturopathic doctor who will have you do ALL the proper and needed blood and saliva tests, to see if your symptoms are due to hormones, adrenal imbalances and possibly an out of balance thyroid . All of these can occur during peri/ menopause, I only know this from experience and eight years of total hell ! Traditional woman's medical "help" during this time of life has always been to tell you that you're thyroid is out of balance , so they just put you on synthetic thyroid drugs ( never addressing the adrenal glands, which if treated can help to heal the thyroid too !). They also , and usually , prescribe drugs for depression, even when you tell them you don't think you are depressed ( with awful side effects that make you feel ten times worse). I was one of those women ! I told them that I was not depressed , that I was just tired and frustrated with years of useless traditional medical practices that only make a woman feel worse about this natural change in her life. After tons of medical tests for everything from heart testing, gallbladder tests, thyroid tests ( one said I was hypothyroid, another said I was fine !), I felt totally frustrated and physically run down. It wasn't till I got to the naturopathic doctor that all the correct blood and saliva tests were done , and they showed what I thought all along. I was all out of balance due to menopause. The "normal-American" medical community only tells women that when they encounter this time of life , that they will have hot-flashes and night sweats and may feel depressed. Go to a good website like Women to Women ( example). Their are about 50 symptoms . I had at least 45 of them. Since I started taking natural supplements for the hormones, adrenals and thyroid , and eat very healthy foods and eliminated gluten, soy and refined sugar and most "junk foods", take time everyday to pray and stay in a positive mind frame ( not allowing myself to listen to negative talk) , I can say almost all of my symptoms ( sadness, 24/7 inner jitters, lightheadedness, hopelessness, etc.) have gone away. I still feel " off balance" at times, but I feel the worst is behind me now, and for the first time in eight years I feel the light and have great hope for the future. I could not have said this a few months ago.

First of all - anxiety is a symptom of something else. So changing a bulb when electrical wiring is at fault is useless (taking anxiety pills) . All body symptoms are indicators of imbalance- mental and emotional. Physical body imbalance is always secondary. Second- for a body to conduct its functions properly, it needs water. All chemical and electric reactions that your cells conduct need water. Not feeling thirsty is not an indicator that you are not dehydrated. Body decline that comes with age is not aging of your cells, but disruptions of electrical signals. Now, until you understand why this happening to you, nothing would help. Start listening "Abraham-hicks" on youtube, everything that is there on health topic. Google "BSFF" , listen intro on you tube and DO order a book and start working on your core beliefs, traumatic experiences, etc. Look into "Amygdala retraining" by Ashok Gupta. And stop going to doctors.
Good luck

It's not dumb to have your heart checked and your health checked. Check for physical causes before psychiatric causes. Also, have your thyroid checked, it can cause psychiatric symptoms, it's a blood test.

I have the same problems and had it for about 4 years now i suffer with shakyness and severe dizziness, tiredness and go hot and cold. Ive been backwards and forwards to the doctors and was even admitted to hospital but they just told me i had low iron and put me on iron tablets. However these dont work and it seems that as soon as i have something sugary or something to eat it passes fairly quickly. Me and my mum are really concerned now as it has started happening when im out with friends and when im out alone. please can somebody help me if they know what it could be. Plus I know that it isnt panic or anxiety attacks as i do suffer with them occasionally and the feeling is completely different.

try some form of anti anxiety medication with immediate relief...clonazepam or activan(lorazapam). If that works then take the route of treatment for anxiety with panic.

My dear, if your doctors are telling you that your lightheadedness/dizziness, etc, are from low iron and B12 levels, then that's what it is! That can definitely cause those symptoms! You need to get your iron and B12 levels fixed, so that your Red Blood Cells can carry enough oxygen to your brain and other parts of your body so that you won't feel like fainting and you won't faint.

Hey!
It looks like Neurocardiogenic Syncope or probably it might be caused by anxiety attacks. You should go to a any other Neurologist or Psychiatrist they can better diagnose after meeting you what it is actually. So, I would recommend you to see a good doctor asap and practice some meditation daily and don't take stress. Hope you get well soon! :)

Hello,
I have been going through a dizziness (Lightheaded) situation for 2 weeks now. My iron levels were too low but in 15 days they went up to 17 and I am still in iron supplement. However, I am going to the ENT doctor on Monday in case that it is ear related. It caught my attention when you mention about Perimenopause because I've read that it can start 10 years before the actual menopause. I am 34 and wondering if this could be it. They test me for thyroid and the results came back normal, my TSH was 0.89, I have heard that sometimes tests don't show up thyroid problems. The rest of my lab work was normal. I also have an appointment with a neurologist in 2 weeks. Yesterday I decided to look for a naturopath and I found one here in Houston, I'm surprised that you also chose this. Please, let me know how you are feeling and about your perimenopause, when it started and if you felt dizzy for sometime in a row. Thank you very much.
