Hi im an 18 year old female, thats suffering with the same thing, its on the left top side, next to my breast bone, ive had it before but not as painful. It comes suddenly, and my parents say its indigestion. Its a sharp pain that hurts when my heart beats, but only sometimes, its last for about 1-2 seconds, the pain spreads to my left shoulder and arm but they only feel weak, and now my breast. should i got to the doctors ?

I have been experiencing sudden sharp stabs in the sternum and scare the heck out of me, my wife gave me 2 aspirin 81 just to be safe! my question is, what are common symptoms of a heart attack other than a sharp pan in that area? no confusion, no shortness of breath, no numbness of left arm, no sweating, just sudden chest pain that leaves you terrified. always wondered if air quality could be a cause, seems to happen when terribly humid. thanks Charlie.

I have this same exact problem. I have had two EKG tests done, X-ray, catscan, etc. doctors can't seem to find anything and say it's likely a nerve spasm. It varies I on location tho, it could be in the center of my chest, or the left close to my heart (reason for the two EKGs)

I'm 73 years old and have been experiencing the same thing for about 2 weeks. It actually makes my body jerk when it occurs and it lasts less than 5 seconds.

I have felt this way for over a decade. I think I may have just found the answer though. Precordial catch syndrome seems to be the right diagnosis for me. Although this "syndrome" has no known cause, so it's far from explained.

all these sound like severe gas trapped in your upper chest. gas can put pressure on nerves which makes it feel like a heart attack/panic attack/anxiety attack plus a plethora of other symptoms that would seem like it could be cardio/lung related issues. but when in all reality its just gas trapped in your chest and is incredibly painful. but as others have said always go have your heart and lungs checked just to be on the safe side because it could be more serious than just gas

I have an ache in the center of chest after a fast walk. It disappears after a few seconds. After a while I am able to walk faster and further. Is my heart ok?

Maybe blood pressure? What? If you had blood pressure problems significant enough to effect your heart at 26 it would have showed up. BP fluctuates significantly especially with workouts and stress, its only a problem if its prolonged and constant... bp medicine like beta blockers used when not necessary can actually weaken the heart. I've had cheat pains off and on but its tied to stress I've had blood work, ekgs etc and nothing was wrong with me im 31 male and fit. One time I stumbled off a rolling log when I was 22 racing heart severe chest pain tingling then darkening of vision and I laid down thinking I was dying.. again no sign of heart issues. Im now with a psychiatrist ive been diagnosed with panic attacks which cause all those symptoms. I still take heart supplements for precautionary purposes baby aspirin in morning with fish oils, coq10 the expensive more bioavailable type as well as 10mgs tadalafil for vasodialation.
