I have endometriosis and I have been dealing with a lot of different things over the past year. I had my daughter in October of 2007 and I had the IUD put in and had to have it taken out because it was lodged in my uterus. I then was put on YAZ and didn't take it or anything else because I was breastfeeding exclusively up until about 6 months of age. I have horrible lower pelvic pain, pressure, my abdomen looks swollen or pregnant looking, lower back pain all the time. My last period was 5 days late and really heavy, painful, huge blood clots which is unusual for me since I have never had any ever. I feel like I can't empty my bladder all the way. I went to the ER for the lower back pain thinking I had an UTI but nope and I felt the exact same way then. So, the dr just treated as a muscle strain. I am always told to go on birth control but I just don't think that they will help me. I just don't like to be told from my doctor that that is the only option. I am sure there are other things out there to help me with this. And I want to know if it is Endo or if something else is going not related to Endo. Thanks for your time. I just want to know if this is all related to Endo or not? Should I just get checked out or is this how it is going to be until I get a hysterectomy? :-(

I have not dealt with your exact problems but I can only imagine how frustrating and confusing it must be. I wanted to ask, have you ever actually tried the birth control for at least 3 months or longer?
If that is the only answer you are getting from more than one doctor I would at least give it a shot. You would be amazed at what all birth control can take care of. I do understand how you feel because I do not like taking it. It makes me feel anxious and I am worried about other side effects. In my opinion if you are wanting more serious and more evasive solutions to be recommended by your doctors I would at least try what they are suggesting first. They have to start out small and work their way up. I doubt that they would do a hysterectomy on a patient who will not try the small things first to try and get results. In my opinion they would be more willing to do more about the situation if you take their initial advice and see how it goes.
I wish you the best of luck and I will make a point to say a prayer for you.

There was one more thing I would like to mention. I did have a similar issue with lower back pain about one year after having my daughter 5 years ago. I had an IUD inserted after her birth and within a year I began to have dull and burning lower back pain. The first thing my doctor did was remove the IUD. That did not help. He decided to do a scope and he did not find anything that indicated that my female parts were causing this back pain. I went to see a gastroenterologist to find out if there was something wrong with my stomach or intestines that was causing the pain. He put me on medicine for irritable bowel syndrome and that completely cured the back pain that I had been miserable with for almost a year. It was definitely an answer to prayer. With the IBS I did stay bloated a lot and couldn't eat certain foods.
I thought I would mention this to you in case the pain is not coming from your reproductive system.
God bless!
