Hello, my son is 12 years old and so far he did not have any problems with any type of food. But it seems like that has changed, yesterday he ate some bananas and a mild skin rash occurred and he also complained of nausea. Could those be mild signs of the allergic reaction to bananas?

And those most probably are. This means that he should not eat bananas until he visits a doctor and do some allergen tests. And if it really was an allergy, then he is lucky that he had such a mild reaction. The aversive reactions vary from benign ones to those very serious, life threatening ones.

Hi, What else did he have besides banana? Banana usually causes a itchy and sore mouth area and not what you are describing- nausea can also be caused by panic...get him checked for food allergies-best to be on the safe side.

My daughter has a severe and strange reaction to bananas. She gets terrible, painful diarrhea and then develops blisters on her buttocks and on her female parts. Her pedatrician says she has a higher likelihood of having a latex allgery and to be careful with other fruit that have the same type of protein in them (watermelon, kiwi, avacado) which she has never had a reaction too. He says that it is an unusual reaction but to be aware and careful with it. That it might be a pesticide reaction but you never know
