Well am i glad i found this page....

i have an 11 year old boy and from the age of 8 or 9 he has not liked to wear underwear, i think it started when we had a family holiday and he wore swim shorts (the ones with mesh liner) for the whole holiday. we had a battle most days before school to get him into underwear. when i though i had won i would find underwear hidden under his bed... i tackled him and found he had his swim shorts on. it was impossible.

last august he started a new school for 11-18 year olds, pior to this swimming at his old school was done with whatever swimwear he normall used.   now at the new school he has to have blue speedo style brief swimwear. he is tall for his age and i found the only ones that fitted were from Aussiebum. (a friend recomended them). he loves them, they are thin nylon material. now he wont wear anything else.  i thought that like a lot more fathers the snug fitting nylon material would hold in sweat, and maybe cause him fertility problems later in life. but reading some of the posts here i do feel a little less worried for him.

we have just had a family beach holiday and as he is 11 i let him pack his own clothes, i was shocked at first, he did not pack sleepwear or any underwear he just had the 2 pairs of swim trunks, one he was wearing and the other in his case. i challenged him on the sleepwear, but he  said he had been sleeping in his new Aussibums for the last 4 months so why not on holiday. reluctantly i let it go for an easy life.   i must say he did take care washing and keeping himself clean which was another problem i had thought may be an issue with prolonged wearing of swimwear like that. and other issues i had read of like crotch itch / rot have not been a problem despite spending most of his waking hours in either the hotel pool or the sea.  so again thanks to all of the other posters here.

Once in a while, during the summer months, Il sleep in my favorite speedo swim briefs that are snug, but not too tight. They do make me feel very sexually turned, especially in the morning and take my time getting them off in the shower.

Iv'e slept in my speedo swim suits at times during the summer months and they feel great. They okay to wear to bed, just dont tie the draw string tight. My girl friend has slept with me on occasions in her one piece speedo swim suit and we do have some night time fun. I can't say sleeping in snug speedo swim suits help with sores, but the material does feel really nice on my lower torso. I'd suggest you use what is known as mineral ice jell on your sore area,it will really help more than speedos.

I fully appreciate your input....
i read your post a few weeks ago, i have a son he is just turned 4 and he was late in getting a grip on toilet training. up to a month ago he would often pee in his pants when he was "Busy", and once a week he wet the bed sometimes more during school time.

we had a 2 week holiday booked, i was getting worried we would have to pack nappies for the trip, more so he would not pee in the hotel bed... but then i discussed this forum page with my husband, initially he dismissed it as tosh... but i was willing to try anything. i took the advice of one of the guest posters here and offered a lake swim every day he did not pee in his speedos. this worked for the 2 weeks leading to the holiday. i even suggested my son wore his speedos to travel in on the promise we would swim when we got there. it worked no wetting during the day no bed wetting the nights he slept in speedos.

the holiday was great he wore his speedos all the time day and night. he did not pee himself once, we dropped off the promise of night time swims, but as it was so hot where we were we did swim most nights anyway. good job i got him new speedos for the holiday, and it sure cut down on the amount of holiday laundry i have had. we have been back almost a week now and he has been dry all day. he seems to like the way his speedos feel so i am thinking of getting a couple more pairs so he can have them machine washed every few days. he is showering at night with his speedos on at present to keep them clean like he did on holiday, which seems to be working. then he sits on a towel until he is dry watching TV before bed..

excellent forum just wish i had found it earlier....Thanks guys

I read your post literally a day before we went on our holiday for a week at the beach. our son is 7. he has been dry day and night since about 30 months. but for some reason easter time he has wet the bed at least 2 maybe 3 nights out of 7. and i have seen pee stains in his jeans. so he must be wetting during play and letting it dry. with the holiday in a hotel i had the same nightmare thoughts what if he wet the bed there. it would not look good. after reading your comments i tooo thought "UTTER RUBISH" but with the dread of the wetting going on during the holiday i was willing to try anything. our son has 2 pairs of speedo style swimwear. Aussibum i thing they are i know they are XXS size. he asked for them because his older cousin has them. so when he came home from school i noticed he had a large pee stain half way down both legs, dry but stained. i took him opstairs got him showered and gave him his swim briefs to put on with some clean sweatpants. he asked why the swimmers. i just said everything else is packed. OK he said. he slept in the swim brifs that night as we had a 2am start for the airport. another part i was dreading him wetting the seat on the plane.... but when we woke him he was dry. the whole 5 hours on the plane he was dry. as soon as we had unpacked we swam at the hotel pool, now normally we would insist he change into dry umderwear after swimming. but i thought maybe not this year. he did not question it just got on with having fun. after a few days (3 i think). i said to the wife he has not wet the bed once or wet during the day. day four we had a long day out on a coach. we visited 2 towns and then in the afternoon stopped at a beach for 2 hours. he was hot and asked if he could swim. ii said welll as long as you leave time to get dry, we had no towel or change of underwear. he swam for almost an hour and a half then played on the beach. he was almost dry when the coach came. when we got back to the hotel, he said he needed the bathroom. so we rushed inside. he made it, but i asked why he did not go at lunch. he replied did not ned to. the rest of the holiday was pure fun he did not wet the bed or wet during the day . now we have been home 4 days back at school and he has wet the bed once and i have 2 pairs of pee stained jeans. the only thing that has changed is he has gone back to boxer shorts. as underwear. so from today i have put him back in his (AB'S) as he calls them Aussibums... so we will have to see what happens. i will post back again after the weekend and let you all know. great forum and a brill help for our holiday

I ma the guest poster above. i know it has been longer than i said but here is an update. as i said above i put him back into his (AB'S) originally it was a weekend trial. but after the weekend i realised he was so much better in them that we did not presure him into going back to his boxer shorts. we decided to leave him be. after a week i sat down with him for a chat. he was a bit sheepish to begin with but after we said he could wear them full time he was really excited. he thought the chat was because we wanted him to go back to boxers. after the chat he said to us i have a small secret. he said he had been swimming a couple of times with a friend at the local river, he had not told us of this but he is very good at swimming and can take care of himself. he thought we would have had a problem with it so he did not ask. i said to him as long as you are careful and there is a group of you then we done have any problem. i told him that is a benefit of wearing your aussiebums under your jeans, you can swim anytime. but i did say to try and spend a little time either sitting in the sun to dry or at least delay in putting his jeans back on. he said one of the boys usually takes a small towel and they share.

in the last few weeks since my last post he has had no wetting accidents in the day or in bed at night. i have recently bought him a third pair of aussibum i thought he would wear them out wearing them every day so three pairs now work well he wears one pair for about three or four days then changes so i can machine was one pair. but each morning before school he takes a shower, up to last weekend i did not know but he is showering in his aussiebums. asking him why, he replied to keep them clean and wash out the river water.

to sum up swimwear has solved a lot of problems for us and it is down to reading this forum....

I have twin boys 11 years old. i found a forum page when they were 8 when we were having problems with them weting the bed. like a lot of the posters on here both boys had been dry in the day and at night for years. then i would say when they were 8½, both boys would have the odd bedwetting incident. as time progressed these incidents got more frequent. also they would wet during the day for no reason. at first i thought they were just lazy or there was some medical problem, we saw the doc and he did endless tests and nothing was found, which in one way was a good thing but did not find why they wet the bed after beiong dry for years.

the forum page i found was similar in content to this one and most of the parents posting were at an end as to what to do. but there was a post by a young dad who suggested sleeping in swimwear. he told of when he was younger and had similar problems, and he concluded that that he thought that wearing swimwear mad him think of swimming and he would often dream of being at the beach. so i suppose he was working along the thought train that he did not wet his swimwear or he may have been stopped from swimming or something. i showed it to the wife and she dismissed it as garbage. but we had a short family holiday coming up and both boys loved the ocean and swam a lot in rivers at home too. but normally we tried to insist they get changed into dry shorts after swimming we discussed it at length and said well if they do carry on wetting then if we are at the beach they just go in the ocean and clean up what did we have to loose. but having read posts on the forums i decided the change the plan that year. so we packed just the onepair of swimshorts each. and they wore them to the beach and swam in them many times a day. leaving them on to dry. at bedtime we just made out it was a new adventure and they slept in their swim shorts. and for the whole week neither boy wet the bed or had a wetting incident in the day. so we thought no more until we got home both boys went back to boxer short underwear most days. then wetting started again and more frequent at night. long swimshorts were a problem under jeans so back to the forums and i spotted a lot of dads had bought speedo style trunks for their boys. boys being boys we took them to chose new swim trunks. both chose the brief style, we explained to them these would be underwear for a trial month. they loved them and for the whole month they did not wet the bed or their jeans. it was summer time so both boys swam a lot at night and often when they swam at school would leave the speeods on to dry under their jeans. so we decided that the forum pages had some meaning and told both boys we would get them both another pair of speedos so we could wash one pair whilst the other was being worn. so a rota was drawn up they would wear one pair for four days then change. it worked well.

now both boys still prefer speedos to any type of underwear, they swim every day from march to november at the lake and during winter at the hydro indoor pool. most if not all of their friends have taken to wearing speedos over the last 3-4 years. obviously neither boy wets the bed now but i do feel that the change to speedos has been a contributary factor. i have seen the Aussiebum brand mentioned many times and shown both boys the website. both want to try some being thin nylon they should help them dry faster after swimming.

thanks to all on there for great advice

I am the youngest of 3 boys in my family, just turned 14. i live in the southwest of the UK, i was encouraged to wear a speedo style swimsuit from very young age. it was partly my dad and partly because i saw my older brothers doing the same. my oldest brother is 18 and i suppose he was about 7 or 8 when dad suggested he wore speedos to the beach. like i was saying i wanted to follow what he did so the same year i got my first pair. we wore them all summer that year for afternoons at the beach or just tanning at home. at the end of the summer none of us wanted to go back to boxer short type underwear so we just carried on with the speedos. they have not caused any of us any health problems. dad told us as long as we wash regular and we change speedos twice a week he and mum are OK with us wearing them.

from another point of view, speedos are better for boys for 3 reasons they are very comfy as underwear especially when doing sport at school. you can swim whenever you get the chance, and they are great in bed. so i suppose they have saved our parents some money not buying regular underwear and sleepwear.

Because speedos are tight the testicles arn't able to regulate there temperature like they can in boxers or normal underwear and could lead to infertility later on.

Hi.Guest.
I grew up in the 70's and 80's. underwear at the time was thick cotton and to me was not at all comfortable i got very hot and sweaty in them and got rashes around my testicles and penis, a bit like nappy rash.... we had a family holiday in the UK and i wore my swim trunks a lot more than underwear, i found them more comfortable and as the week progressed the rashes disapeared and i was a lot cooler wearing them. my father suggested i wore them more when we got home as he had done this for years (i never knew until then).

during my school years i wore speedos the old thin nylon ones all the time under my uniform and swam during lunchtime leaving them on after to dry under my uniform. i had 2 pairs one for the weekdays and the other for weekends so both pairs got washed once a week.

when i was 16 i met my girlfriend she loved me in the speedos and took to wearing her bikini for our dates, the following year we had our first son, and we had 3 more sons over the next five years. all four followed my example (By choice) and wore speedos from the day they stopped wearing nappies.

all four sons have had large families (all sons), my youngest has got 5 boys under 10. the oldest had 6 boys, now his oldest son has just had twin boys last year.

i have recently got back in touch with friends from school, where most of my year wore speedos as underwear for most of our school life. of the ones i have made contact with all have had families and still to this day wear speedos style swimwear every day, mainly for the comfort and support whils doing sporting activities.

i think the tight speedo causing fertility problems is a myth, as four generatiopns of our family has proved. it is sort of like all the hype over global warming related to car emissions... one question... did the dinosoars drive petrol cars???. because we had ice age and extreem heat following the dinosoar age??

There are plenty of myths in this world and there are plenty of people, politicians in particular, who take advantage of them for personal gain. The internet is a fertile place for myths. We've always had plenty of them though over the years. Almost everything I learned about sex and girls when I was a teenager in the 50s falls in the myth category. Mainly because our parents and all the other adults didn't want us to know anything so they made sure we didn't get real facts.

The democrats are consistently promoting the myth that the Republicans are the party of the rich. As I look around my town at election time for the past 60 years all the Republican signs are in front of middle class homes and all the Democrat signs are in front of the houses of the people I always considered rich compared to me.

Hillary is getting a lot of mileage out of saying she will get the jobs back for the middle class. It's my observation over the past 50 years that it's her party that created all the rules and regulations that drove the companies that supply the jobs out of business sending the jobs out of the country.

I started sleeping in speedos when I was about13 and the freedom after wearing pyjamas was unbelievable. I tried wearing nothing just once but didn't like the feeling at all. That went on for a year or so then we were told to get jockstraps for PE at school. Soon after that I tried sleeping in just a jockstrap and found that was even better than speedos. I still do that now. I have never hidden that from my sons and the oldest, 14, recently asked if he could get one and try it for sleeping. He now thinks its the best thing ever
I never told my parents, I just put my pyjamas back on over the jockstrap if I had to get up in the night. I think it is much better that my kids don't have to have the same secrets.

I first slept in speedos at school camp, the camp was in a field near a river. all of the activities were based on or around the river so we wore swimsuits all day. every night i was far too tired to go shower and change so just slept in the speedos i had on. not sure what age i was but i was between 8 and 11.

did not get chance to again for a while but after a great family holiday in the sun at about 13 or maybe 14 i begged my parents to let me wear speedos for underwear, they did and i have never looked back.

i have a son now he is 4 we have just had a holiday together prior to the trip he wore a nappy to sleep i peed in his sleep most nights but dry most days. but he saw i wore a swimsuit to sleep and wanted to do the same. the idea was good but i did not like the idea of him wetting a hotel bed. he begged and begged, so i gave in but put waterproof coat under him. but i had a surprise. he never wet himself. on our return he went back to nappy for bed and every nigh it was wet. so 3 weeks ago i put him in his fave trunks for the night and he was dry in the morning. so he has now been 3 weeks dry at night. it may be a memory thing, as others on here and other forums have found this works. maybe he is thinking if he stays dry maybe he will get a swim more? i have treated him a few nights a week with a trip to the lake for a swim so lets hope it carries on working for us..

Firstly i must say thanks especially to the poster above, i read your post 2 months ago as my 8 year old son was going on a school camp, he had never really been totally dry at night and wore plastic pants to sleep. with the camp day looming he was getting upset about the night times at camp and the bedwetting got more freequent. after readingyour post i sat him down and we discussed the matter man to boy. i got him some new speedos for the trip, my theory was if he wet the bed he could go shower to clean up in a morning. so as a trial i got him to wear the speedos for a week, he only wet the bed once so it was a result. i rewarded him with a second pair of speedos to take to camp as a spare.

the day of camp came and he went of with the otherboys. a week later he came back with the biggest smile ever all he could talk about was the fun at camp, he did say to me at home he did have one wet accident but no one saw and he had a shower to clean up. but he had only worn the one pair of speedos and he thought they were great. he begged me to let him carry on wearing them. i said yes because i could see they had helped him and he was happy. and he has not had any accidents since he got back

Hi.
i am 30 years old now and as a child i was a frequent bedwetter, and sometimes during the day, apart from when we were on holiday, camping. we did not have a car so we used trains and had to carry all we took with us. so we packed quite lite, dad was worried about my bedwetting, i think i would have been 7 at this time. he had resigned himself to need to wash my sleepwear every day. however we arrived at the camp site put up the tent and dad found we had not brought any sleepwear. as i had my swim trunks on from the beach he said just sleep in those i did and in the morning the bed was dry. this was the first night for over a week. as the holiday went on a pattern emerged, as i was sleeping in my swim trunks the bed was dry every morning and there was no daytime wetting, i did pee whilst i was inthe ocean but who doesnt.

when we returned home i went back to cotton pyjamas and instantly i wet the bed 5 nights in the first week back. i begged dad to let me sleep in my swim trunks. he kept saying no, but after a few weeks he gave in and let me wear them for a month to see what happened, it was a good result each day the bed was dry.. and my daytime wetting stopped. so dad was surprised, i asked dad if i could carry on wearing my trunks (i hated waking up cold and wet). he agreed and from then on i have worn trunks or speedos to sleep in.

dont know if bedwetting runs in families but i have 2 sons 14 and 12, both were dry mostly in the day from about 3 years old but both wet the bed most nights,. when the oldest was about 6 the wife and i had a discussion about it and i told her my story, she seemed surprised at why i wore the speedos. but agreed we needed to do something for our sons. both had a summer camp coming up and we would have hated for them to get picked on. so we gave them the same months trial i had. low and behold it worked so we allowed both boys to wear speedos, both have advanced into Aussiebum nylon speedos style trunks they like them because they dry so fast, both love swimming. since that day neither boy has wet the bed or in the day.

i can only conclude that as some others have suggested maybe the bedwetting is somehow thought based. and as in my case back when i was 7 we had no sleepwear on that holiday so maybe the thought in mind that if i wet my trunks in my sleep i would be stoppeed from going to the beach. i dont know but there is obviously some like somewhere. so if your boy wets the bed a lot give him a try in swim trunks and reward him if he is dry in the morning with a swim. well worth a try
