I am 22 and I don't work out a lot. I have two lumps in my forearm. My dad and my brother have stated years ago that they had these. They said they were fatty deposits in your arm. For some reason they are always in people's forearms. I do sit at a computer about 9 hours a day for work. They have been kind of hurting recently but maybe that is due to my arm being rested on the desk for typing. They are only on my right arm and I am right handed. Do you think I should go to the doctor? I don't think they have been growing, but I haven't really paid attention to them much. Are they just fatty deposits then? Should I get them checked out?

If the bump is close to your wrist then most likely it is a gangloin cyst. It happens when the fluid between your bones leaks out. It's not dangerous but can cause pain if it pinches a nerve. I went to a doctor and had mine drained with a big needle. It hasn't come back since.

I noticed a hard lump about the size of a pea on the under side of my forearm about 3 inches from my wrist. It can be moved, so it does not seem to be attached and x -rays show nothing. I have mild discoloration, brown and green bruise-like, and swelling. The bruising is spreading on my arm and it is increasingly more painful. I even have numbness if I bend my wrist foreward for any length of time. Sounds like a ganglion cyst that is affecting a nerve maybe?? Has anyone had something like this?

just had a doctor diagnose a similar lump on my arm as an angiolipoma. amazingly, i haven't seen this mentioned before. it's a benign tumor that has a large amount of blood vessels, which accounts for the pain and tenderness. i can't touch mine at all, it's that painful. i have them throughout both inner forearms. the doctor said he wouldn't cut them out because the scar tissue could cause more problems than the lumps themselves, but if pain persists, he said he could inject a long-lasting numbing agent into the tumors. bleh.

I have three small lumps under the skin on my forearm and a couple on the top of my thigh. I can move them around and they are not painful. I have gone to a few different doctors who say they are tissue build up and are not harmfull. They really make me self conscious so I have decided to get them taken out. Since they are not harmful I have to see a dermatologist who said they can take them out easily. I just hope that they dont come back and I have to go have them removed again.

for the hard not movable ones... do a google search for dermatofibromas. click images and take a peek, that exactly what mine look like.

Yea im a girl age 14 i have one too it also is not visible, is movable, doesn't hurt or itch, and on my right arm. I had mine for i couple of months now mine has receded but is not gone. I recommend you get it checked to see if its ganglion, cancer, or benign.

I agree with this. A few years ago before I started lifting I only noticed a few of these enlarged fat globules. Now I have many of them with a couple on my forearms and several around my abdomen and back, as well as a few on my legs and thighs. Then again, it may be just the aging factor. and not the weightlifting. I dunno, but sometimes I get worried that they are more than just oversized fat cells.

i have also got the same symptom on the underside of my forearm, and i have just started lifting weights after a 9 month break. What i would say is the fact that people are just noticing these after working out could only be a result of paying more attention to their forearms, i mean we all watch our arms when lifting hand weights and so this may just be a result of the watching or feeling areas where you might not normally think of, and not the physical activity itself, so dont be put off working out !however i will go to the doc if it stays there or changes, its not being paranoid to check thses things out! it will probably be nothing as with other peoples experiences but its best to be sure.
Theres nothing wrong with checking these things on the net but until a professional has diagnosed it you cannot be sure, if there was an issue with your car you might take the advice of a novice on the net but if it bothered you or got worse you would take it to a mechanic. Simple.

I have one on my left forearm but it's so small I wouldn't even call it a lump..... more like a "hump".
It seems to be right on the bone on the top of my forearm.
I'm going to see what my doc has to say.

Like a lot of people posting here, I put myself through 3 heavy weightlifting sessions a week, and have done so since I was 17 (I'm now 26). Last week I noticed the same pea sized lump on my forearm about 6cm from my funnybone. My folks and girlfriend are adamant I see a doctor about it. Like others, mine is in no way painful and is barely noticable. I found the post about synovial fluid from the elbow joint interesting, as last year I burst the bursa sac in my elbow adjacent to this lump, so maybe that is an explanation??
Anyway I'll probably bite the bullet and pay up to see a GP, better to safe than sorry.

Has anyone had one of these lumps diagnosed as a sarcoma?

Wow im shocked about how many have this. I too have a small pencil-eraser-top-sized bump on the back of my right arm about midway between my elbow and wrist. At first it was just a small hard spot. now it seems to be raising a little and is sore a little and looks like a very light bruise.....
I guess ill go ask a doctor but was hoping i could find some useful info online first...

My husband, who lifts weight steadily and is in great shape, gets these occasionally on the inside of his forearm. The most he has had is three to four under the skin type bumps. The doctor has said that they could be ganglion cysts, as someone mentioned earlier.
Ganglions are small sacs filled with clear, jellylike fluid that often appear as bumps on the hands and wrists. It is important to know that they are not cancerous! In fact, most people notice that the bumps come and go. They seem to increase with activity and there is not much you can do about them.
How are Ganglions treated? Well, Ganglions usually do not need treatment and often go away on their own. If they are painful, limit activity, press on nerves, or are unsightly, your doctor may recommend nonsurgical treatment, such as wearing a splint, massaging the ganglion to reduce the fluid within the bump, or draining it with a needle and syringe (aspiration).
